Check this out Star Wars fans.

Someone told me once there was an alternate ending where Han Solo dies. That is why there is the line that he doesn't thing he will ever see the Falcon again.

Apparently it ran in previews (I guess before the final cut) and it was not liked so they changed the ending.

This beginning is really cool. Thanks for sharing

I'm trying to remember where I read it, but one of the producers said the original story line was a darker Empire Strikes Back like story, but Lucas changed it all because the toy company had taken off.

I don't get the significance. What's he doing to the light saber?

building it to replace the one that he lost in TESB.

Here is a little info on the Jedi that could have been....

There have been lots or rumors of Han not living at the end (H. Ford suggested to Lucas that he be killed off - that is a well known fact), but I dont think any "death" was ever filmed....nor was Lando's in the Falcon (also widely speculated).

I can't remember where DH read it, but he told me the same thing the other day. Apparently Lucas's ex-partner (I'm not enough of a SW geek to know his name :sad2:) wrote the ending where Han Solo dies, and exactly that-- Lucas changed it because of the toy sales.

Hhhmm, ok I still don't get it. Why is that so cool? I'm not trying to be snotty. I like the movies, but my kids are big fans.

Probably because that is the 1st time that the general public has seen that scene that was first filmed nearly 30 years ago. You dont generally get that type of thing 30 years after a movie has been released....especially not given the multiple iterations of the movie that Lucas has released since 1983.

I have to say that GL is a mega genius. My kids are in elementary school and love love love all things Star Wars. I think we have 4 lego star wars games for different systems, a couple of replacements etc. Two different DVD sets. Four or five t-shirts, countless toys. And Legos--oh the legos!

darn, it's not there anymore. :( DH (biggest star wars fan EVER) wanted to see it.

I didn't get to see it, but it's just fun to see things that were filmed but didn't make it. Do you ever watch the Special Features on your DVDs or blurays? the cut scenes, or even scenes that were thought of but not made (like in animated films)? Same idea.

I knew, knew, knew that Lucas would do something like that for a bluray release! He is the absolute emperor of marketing to get many people to buy multiple copies of the same movies, and even multiple copies of trilogy releases etc etc.

But in our house we're still cool b/c we have the original laser discs of the 3 movies, and there's one or two things that didn't make it past the LD version. Can't recall what it is (or they are) right now as I'm tired, but I feel it's at the beginning?

1) You had Luke building his lightsaber in the "Crystal Cave".

2) More importantly you had Darth Vader reaching out to his Son and using the term Son. That shows feelings which presumably a Sith Lord doesn't have. I think this adds to the back story that there is "still good in him" and leads up to the end of the movie when he saves Luke from the Emperor.

:bounce::PinkbouncI am SO excited for the Blu-Ray versions! :woohoo: Is it 2011 yet?!?
