I am planning a trip for Jan 2013 and am wondering if there is a way I can check resort availability. I tried searching for rooms at the Disney World website but it just tells me they are currently only booking through Dec 31 2012. I am considering renting DVC points for a villa (I'd really like a treehouse though I know they go quickly and it may be unlikely at this point), so I'd like to get some idea of which resorts have availability. Annoyed that Disney isn't booking for January yet :headache: So, anyone know another way I can find out any info regarding availability? Thanks! :goodvibes

Unfortunately, the only way to get room availability past 12/31/2012 is to call.

It is hard to belive but true, the Tech geeks at Disney have not as yet been allow to keep the booking calendar at a rolling 12 months. I really think Disney is missing the boat here. The previous poster is correct, though you can not check online, a simple call to Disney will yield your answers. ( Here too I think Disney should step up and get a 1-800 number for the Reservations part of their call group. )

If you're trying to find out availability at the DVC resorts for renting points, you're not going to be able to do that online or on the phone. The points inventory is completely separate from the cash reservation inventory, and can only be checked by DVC members, either by calling Member Services, or by looking at the members' reservation site. The folks you'd call at the Disney Reservation Center can't see availability for points reservations.

Once you find a member to work with on your points rental, they'll be able to look up availability at the resorts for you.

It's not so much this, but they do not allow booking online until the prices for that time period are released. It makes sense. So, it's not so much the "tech geeks" but actual policy.

DVC owners at SSR have been able to book the THV for almost 2 months now. If you are interested in that, you probably will want to look at renting points from an owner and it might already be too late. Disney does not release the villa rental stuff until later then the room inventory since it is based on what is booked by owners.

Yes, this is true but even then Disney knows even Now how much they'll be raising prices for next year. To me it is to Disney advantage to allow a person to book for next year. It might mean they lose alittle money to those who would book as soon as they get back home for the next year. (But I've heard that 70% of visitors are first timers.) So knowing people will becoming back and spending more money should make Disney want to give them every chance to book as soon and as often as possible.
