I was going to say the same thing. SOmeone I know does that with cel phones.

If you have the patience and time, you can certainly get the bling, for much less ching!

I think to really get the same effect I would have to use some agent (maybe a glue) which is know (by the state of California) to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.
