Where do you check in at Saratoga Springs. And if you asked for a DTD veiw will it be honored now that they have changed the way reservations are made.

You checkin at the carriage house, when you get to the SSR gate they will tell you how to get there. If you are coming by bus it will be where they drop you off.

If you find you are not pre-assigned the view you wanted then you can ask at check-in to be re-assigned. Some people prefer to get a room immediately then wait for a particular view so the check-in people usually have the ability to move you to where you want to be. ( I am one of those people. Rather be in a room early than have a particular view [unless it is a treehouse]).

There are many times there are more requests for a particular view than people checking out from that view so they can't always meet your request.

You check in @ the Carriage House which is the main complex for SSR - where the restaurants, gift shop and theme pool are.

As for requests, they are still just that. If you ask @ check-in, I'm sure they will try to accommodate you if they can but they may not be able to. The computerized room assignments wouldn't really change that fact.

We checked in at SSR last week and requested DTD view, we got the Grandstand. When I asked if we could be switched to DTD, we were told that there weren't any rooms available and that they are sold out until after the first. :sad1:

As Deb said & I said, it's a request - no guarantees. Just because you asked doesn't change that fact, or anything anyone said on the phone, unless it's a guaranteed booking category (which this is not). They can't create a room out of thin air meeting anyone's request, if there aren't any of those rooms available.

I bet twice as many people request Downtown Disney views as the number of rooms with that view. It means that half of those people will not succeed in getting their request fulfilled.

It all depends on availability, it's not a question of "honoring it". There might be only 10 rooms open the day you check-in with the Downtown Disney view and there might be 50 people requesting it. I think it will be harder with this new system, they could have assigned Downtown Disney view rooms to people who had no requests. If they check-in before you, they will get it.

I don't think there's any one answer that fits all. In November we had a 1 night stay in a treehouse before a DCL cruise. I think it was the 1 night factor that caused the CM at checkin to look harder for a treehouse that was available when I checked in at 11AM. She said if we had to wait until 4 that really didn't give us much time to enjoy the treehouse! Of course I smiled and agreed, secretly holding my breath until she announced "Got one!"
