Can you check in with your bankcard (mastercard)? Will they still allow you to charge souvenirs and food to your room or does it have to be a credit card?

When I was there 2 years ago, I used my Visa Check Card to check-in & I was able to charge everything to my room key with it. So I'm guessing it's fine assuming they haven't changed their policy.

I tried to do this several years ago when checking in at FW on a Saturday. I had two reservations in my name (we had a huge family gathering there and I had a couple of campsites and 3 homes). Anyway, they charged my first reservation to my debit card no problem, but the second (and larger one) was declined. The person helping mentioned something about only being able to take or charge a certain amount of $$ on the debit card on the weekend. I knew there was a limit on ATM withdrawals, but not on spending. Luckily I had my checkbook with me and wrote a check for the second reservation.

Yes there is a limit on spending (found this out the hard way). I know for us its $1500.00 I don't know if everyone elses is that same amount. BUT you can call ahead (only 24 hours ahead) and have them put no limit on it. But after the 24 hours it will go right back to being limited.

I always use mine to pay for our reservations. everytime I check in they ask if I want to charge on it and I say yes. I believe we can charge up to $1000.
