Our family has purchased and printed Universal Studios admission tickets on-line in order to avoid waiting in-line. However, entry to Universal Studio's 7:00 AM early park admission and access to Universal Express lines would require resort guests to arrive at their hotel as early as 6:00 AM and wait in the check-in/registration lines just to obtain room key cards. Since regular check-in times are after 4:00 PM, resort guests would then have to return to the hotel a second time later that day and wait in the check-in/registration lines all over again to receive their room assignments and activate the key cards. We want to make the most of our time and go directly to the theme parks early in the morning without being delayed by waiting in line at the hotel first. Is there a way to avoid this?

You don't have check in again to get your room assignment. They will probably say that they will text or leave you a message with the room number, or you can ask them to do that. Your room key will automatically be activated to work for that room. I believe you can even ask that bell services bring your bags up to the room as soon as it is assigned.

Just checkin in the morning and that's it. If the room is not ready they will call your cell # when it is ready. They will then tell you your room# and just go to your room. :thumbsup2

what they said.......

check in, have your items held by the valet, go to the park with your hotel key cards.

that's it.

your card will be programmed when your room is assigned and will work without stopping at the front desk.

It's just like at Disney.....

I had to ditto this... there are no long lines (that I have ever encountered or heard of). My one and only time staying on site when we arrived we walked straight to the desk and checked in. It was quick and simple :)

What every other PP has said did not happen for us. We checked in around 9:00 am at the HRH, received our key cards and went to the parks. They told us they would call/text us when our rooms were assigned and ready. When they called us a few hours later, they told us that we had to come by the front desk to get different room keys - the keys they gave us wouldn't work for our rooms. I don't know if what happened to us was a fluke, but we did have to wait in line at the front desk twice. It wasn't a big deal - maybe a 5 minute wait. This all happened the 1st weekend of June - not that long ago.

There may have been a problem with your assigned room and so they switched your room.

only better with FOTL :cool1:

Oh yes of course. I was just meaning that you can check in before your room is ready and get the things you get with staying onsite. :) Like when we checked into Paradise Pier Hotel at Disneyland at something like 5:30 in the morning in order to take part in Magic Morning that morning.

I mentioned this before, but we waited a long time to check in. We only checked in once, but it sure took a long time for them to check in the 2 people a head of us...both working with a staff member...and then to check us in! Longest checkin wait I ever had!

The same for us. We checked in at 7am, got our keys and waited for a call letting us know our room was ready. At about 10 am they called and told us that our room was ready and we had to come exchange our room keys for new ones. It was pretty quick though, 5 minutes tops as well. We were there last week. :)
