Check in time for SSR is listed as after 4pm - this is pretty late, I think! Have any of you been able to get in your room earlier than this? We were planning on stopping at the Publix on our way from the airport (flight arrives at 10:30 am). Can they hold your luggage and groceries (even refrigerated/frozen items) until the room is ready?
:thanks:

Any WDW hotel (DVC or not) will be able to hold your luggage for you until you can actually check-in - including your perishables.

Just have your perishables separated from the rest of your grocery bags and mark them "refrigerated/frozen" accordingly.

PS: 4PM check-in is quite normal for most hotels. You can ask for early check-in on arrival, but don't count on it. Check back with the hotel front desk periodically in the afternoon (no more than on the hour) to ask them if your room is ready. Chances are you can get in a bit earlier than 4PM.

Sometimes the rooms will be ready very early and other times it takes until 4:00pm for them to be ready. It all depends. Whenever we go down we always go to the hotel and check just to be sure.

You can check in as soon as you arrive and you'll receive your room key. If your room is ready they will give you the room number, if not they will give you a phone number to call and check on your room status.

Bell Services can keep your luggage and groceries until your room is ready.

Check in at all the DVC resorts is 4pm and check out at 11am. We've been lucky each time we've been at SSR and have gotten our room very early in the morning but it's not guaranteed.

You can check in at any time, and as stated above, you can store your luggage and perishables should your room not be ready when you get there. If your room is not ready, they will give you a card with a number on it that you can call to check on when your room is ready. We usually call about 4. We always plan to be at the parks right away anyway, and once our room is ready, we usually go back there and unpack before going back to the parks to enjoy our first evening.
