Check in time? Our recent experience-

Just curious to what is considered "late"? Sometimes I have my room ready at check in or 2-3pm. But I have never had 6pm before!

I consider after 4:00 PM as late. Regardless of the Disney disclaimer of "check-in time being after 4:00 PM, which I view as nonsense since a check-in time of 10:00 PM fits that bill and allows DVC to claim adherence to the specified check-in time. Which of course is ridiculous, but that's what happens when entities try to solve problems by being duplicitous with their wording rather than allocating resources to ensure rooms are ready by a certain time.
