Check-in & Security Time At Orlando

We returned home on 12/10. We curbside checked the luggage at Air Tran before returning the rental car. They also printed our boarding passes. The security line was about 15 minutes around 4:00pm. I just posted on another thread, we left MGM around 3:00 and were at the gate between 4:00 and 4:30.

The answer to your question is, "It depends" on your airline and how many people are traveling that day. I was there on 12/12 and the line to e-ticket check in at NWA took us almost 30 minutes. Add to that the security which was another 30.

There have been times when I have just walked up to a SWA kiosk and then through security, but usually that is on a Saturday afternoon.

Sundays are notorious for being crowded at MCO.

Best option is plan to get to the airport at least 90 mintues to 2 hours prior to your flight.

I would allow at least 90 mins or more. The day before Christmas we allowed 2 1/2 hours and its a good thing we did. Lines at check in and curbside were bad. Security line wasn't but I have seen long lines there quite often.

Took us almost an hour to check in and get through security Monday (12/27) afternoon. Check in was only about 15 minutes of that time, the security lines were long.

BF and I fley home 12/11. We were on United/Ted. We walked in, saw the HUGE line for check-in and checked baggage, turned around, walked right back out, and gave our bags to the sky cap. He checked us in, gave us our boarding passes and claim checks in about 30 seconds. We then just headed to security, which I think we waited maybe 10 minutes for. It seemed like a really long line, but it moved quickly. From the time the limo droped us off to the time we sat down at the gate was maybe 25 minutes, including taking the tram to our terminal.

Sure, it costs you a few dollars in tips, but using the sky cap cuts your time waiting in lines in half! Money well spent, if you ask me! I don't know why more people don't do it!

On Wednesday 12/15 at 4:30 pm the Delta Curbside was very quick. However, Security was LONG!!

I waited in the security line for 40 minutes in my ECV, then was pulled ahead of others through the accessible gate. If I hadn't had the ECV, it could have very well been another 30 minutes.

On December 29, we left Universal's RPR at 6:55pm and we were sitting at our gate at 7:35pm. We were picked up by towncar service, dropped off and checked our bags curbside, walked right thru security with no line whatsoever and straight to our gate. I couldn't believe it. I have never been through airport security with no line, even at our teeny airport in Knoxville.
