Check-in Question

With all this talk about "room ready" and requests being/not being met, I have a question. We have 3 rooms reserved for our Nov trip. The three parties are arriving at 3 different times but are all under one name. Can the party arriving first (early afternoon) do the check-in for all 3 rooms? the only requests that we had were for Non smoking and that the rooms be near each other. those 2 requests are listed on our confirmation letter. We are all one family, just seperate rooms. Just curious about this.

If the party arriving first has his/her name on all 3 reservations, then yes, he/she can check in for all 3 rooms. Otherwise, no.

Assuming you are not over occupancy for any of the rooms, you can call MS and add the name to the other reservations if necessary.

Yes, if the first person to arrive has their name on all the ressies, that would make it easier.

I had a similiar request last Nov for 3 Studios, the likely hood of getting the 3 rooms close together is slim to none.
Be happy getting the 3 rooms on the same floor.
I tried everything short of greasing the CM at check in but to no avail, be prepared to make some concessions to get a couple of the rooms close.
I wound up with 2 close and the third on the floor below quite a distance away.
My name was also on all 3 reservations and I checked in all at the same time.
It's good if at least 1 of the rooms is ready, that way you'll at least have a base of operations depending on when the rest of your groups arrive.

Actually, the reservation is for a 1 bedroom and 2 studios. We would be happy to just be in the same building.

If you have the reservations linked with the request that they be near each other, I wouldn't be surprised if you actually get the studio attached to one of the 1 bedrooms like a 2 bedroom unit. You probably should have reserved a 2 bedroom lock off because it would have been less points.

That probably depends a lot upon at which resort you are staying. At OKW, close would probably be in the same building, or in adjacent buildings (which can be closer than the same building, depending on location within that building).

I would assume the same would be true of SSR.

For the "hotel" style resorts, it would probably be more difficult to fulfill that request, depending on overall occupancy.

Alot depends on the number of checkouts they have the day you check-in and how full they are. If the resort is full and there are few checkouts that day, it may not be possible to get rooms close together no matter how early you get there.

Oooh! that is true. Yikes! We are getting in on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. That could be difficult if most folks generally leave on that Sunday.

If you think that there is a chance that the other members of your group will arrive before you, you might want to add their names to the reservation.

During our last 2 visits, WDW wouldn't let my husband check in for us - I had only put my name on the reservation. (Silly me - but our guide had told us that was fine, and up until this year it did work just fine.)

The front desk CM's have told us that this is part of improving Disney's security - each person registered will get a room key with their own name printed on it, too.

My dad is the points owner (in the process of putting my name on the deed) so the reservation was mailed to him. Although he will be checking into one of the rooms, (and arriving first), the reservation was made by me so I guess all three are in my name. (It actually says "a reservation has been made for lts862..." Hmmm. I can put my Dad on all 3 reservations with me?

Yes, just call member services and tell them you want to give them the name(s) of the other occupants. (Or have your Dad call, since he's the member.)
Doing this ahead of time certainly saves you time at check in, too.

I've mentioned this recently, but at BWV in December, we had 4 studios and a 2 bedroom for our group, and they were all close together, on the same floor and it worked very nicely. Everyone checked in by 5PM, rooms were ready in a staggered fashion, I was so pleased with it all.
