How strict are the resorts on check in times? We are driving down the day before and would love to check in as early as possible....just wondering if we could check in before the 3:00pm check in time that is on our documents.....I know this all depends upon room availability.....

You can check in any time during the day. You may not have access to your room at the time but you can still check in, get your park tickets, store your luggage and go off to the parks if you wish. You can even use the pool and shower facilities. There is no reason to wait until the posted check in time.

You can check in as early as 7:00 a.m. and get your park tickets and start using the DDP (if you have the dining plan). Depending on how busy it is, your room may or not be ready, but you can check in any time. If your room isn't ready, you can leave your luggage with bell services and head off to the parks and Disney will text you when your room is available .

Yes, the text is very convenient! Also, if you do online check-in before arrival, there is a place on the check in form to let them know when you will be arriving. The last two times, we have arrived at 10 AM and our room was ready (I noted our arrival time online). Noting it doesn't guarrantee you will get your room, but it does help them know when you are coming, I would think.

You could do online check-in 10 days before arrival. I did that, and it worked very well, because I was checking in early (10am) and then didnt have to wait in any sort of check in line.

We are going to be changing resorts (from Contemporary to P.O. Riverside) in the middle of our trip. Do we have to go to the resort in order to get our tickets and stuff for the Disney Dining Plan?

If your dining plan is tied to your stay at POR, then, yes.

Ever since I started staying at the Boardwalk Inn back in August 2010 each time I cheked in there was before 3:00 PM and the room was always ready. Now it wasn't very early like before 10:00 AM, instead I would always get there between 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM. Although maybe a reason for that is because I always stay Club Level and on the IPO question sheet they e-mail us, one question is what time do you expect to arrive and I always put down between 1:00 PM.
