Check-In Question

I'm in Motorhome, other family members are in cabin. I will fax for the loop I want in advance to hopefully be close to their cabin. On my check-in day I will be at SeaWorld, will it matter if I check in later or earlier, or are all the sites pre-assigned and it doesn't matter? I would prefer to check-in around 2 or 3 if time does not matter.
Thanks

Check in time is supposed to be after 1 pm, so coming later will not matter and the sites are assigned by the date you arrive. We usually like to get there in the morning but had to wait untill after 1 pm anyways...

I would fax a site request to the Fort about 5 days in advance and let them know that you will be vacationing with people who are staying in the cabins. There is a cabin down by the Settlement that actually has a campsite right next to it. I think it is the 200 loop but I'm sure someone knows for sure.

I think you're thinking of the 100 loop. There are actually 2 cabins there amongst the campsites, although I understand you actually can't request them, as they're generally reserved for use by VIPs. Sometimes people luck out and get assigned to them anyway when they arrive.

If your other party in the cabins is on a separate reservation, I would put a request in on each one, stating that you're traveling together and would like to be as close as possible.

We've found that having the request noted on our reservation AND faxing it 4-5 days prior tends to work the best.

Good luck! :goodvibes

Yes, I will do the fax on both requests, but my question is about the actual check-in time. Basically, are all the good sites taken by 2-3 or are they pre assigned and I can check in at will.
Thanks again.

Actually, sites are not preassigned. They are assigned as they are vacated and once the maintenance crews have done their cleanup. So arriving early can certainly work to your advantage.

The sites are pre assigned a day or so ahead, the only thing getting there early does is if there is a real problem with the site they assign you (like you camper will not fit) they have more sites to switch you into. Later in the day more sites are filled and they will have fewer options. I would not worry about it, just be clear with your request and the size of your camper.

If your family members are staying in a cabin, have them ask for a cabin in 2100. Campers need to ask for 1100. They back up to each other and there is a sidewalk between the two loops at the 1100 comfort station.

At one time the sites were assigned the day before arrival - but it's best to fax your request 5 days out. I don't know how sites are assigned now - maybe they are given out upon arrival. :confused3 The one gal I used to call the day before I checked in has moved up the ladder & is no longer working at FtW. There went my "in" at the Fort. :sad2:

ETA: If you arrive before 1pm, you will be able to check in, but will not be told what site you have been assigned until 1pm or after. The only exception to this is if the Fort's occupancy is light & they have plenty of sites vacant. Then they will tell you what site you're in before 1pm.

All these answers are pointless. Sea World does not have a campground.

I hate to appear argumentative, but experience suggests that sites are assigned as they are cleared and cleaned. I have seen numerous times that a site is cleared early and is filled within the hour. I have see this too many times to be a coincidence that the new arrivals just happened to arrive early when the previous occupant leaves early. It could be that folks with special requests will have a site held for them, but I still maintain that most sites are assigned at the time of arrival.

I want a site between the comfort station and Shamu. Or is it Shamwow?

I think you're thinking of the 100 loop.
Yeah, that's probably the one. I had no idea that it was mostly used for VIPs. We were thinking of requesting it for a trip when our daughters come with us. Seemed like it would give us all plenty of room to stretch out in without getting on each others nerves. Guess that's not going to happen. :(

You could go with Debbie's suggestion...

This was my exact plan:cool1: My only problem with this plan is that no-one can seem to tell me which category loop 1100 is or will be when I arrive on May 18th. I currently have full hook-up.

So currently I have both reservations linked with a "travel with ID #", supposedly this will get us close to each other. Then I will fax in my Loop request and my families cabin loop request 4-5 days in advance. Then I will arrive around 2pm and hopefully everything will work out.

We faxed our request in for full hookup in 1100 and our family had 3 cabins behind us. Worked out perfectly! Good luck.

I just called the Front Desk & spoke with Autumn. For those who care to know....your site is assigned 2 days prior to check-in, although you cannot call and ask what site you've been given - too many variables involved. When you arrive - if it's before 1pm and the Fort is pretty full, your original assigned site may have to be changed due to the fact someone arrived before you & requested that particular site. If, upon arrival, your site is vacant & ready - they will give it to you and let you check in. The earliest I have ever checked in & was allowed to go to my site was at 7:30am.

Once the loop attendant has "signed off" on a site, that number is put in the system to be available to a site assigner to use, but not a check-in cast member. If a guest requests a certain site # upon checking in, the check-in person MUST clear it with the site assigning CM before they can give it to the guest checking in.

So, bottom line, they do pre-assign sites & hope they don't have to vary too much from the original assignment. Autumn told me the assigners try very hard to "fit" the site to any specific requests on the ressie if they can. A ressie is reviewed for special requests, (i.e. loop #'s, site near a bus stop or comfort station), then they try to assign a site according to the size and type of rig you have.

Ah... that explains why in December the CM at check in "wasn't allowed" to tell us our site assignment. Although she kind of hinted that it was the one we'd requested. ;)

Thanks for the info, Debbie!
