Check- in Process and Duration?

Hey everyone! As of now we have a reservation at the Royal Pacific Resort but we are still trying to figure out our plans. We are FL Residents so we will be driving to Universal. I was wondering how long does it take to get checked-in? How long does it take from the moment you pull up to valet until you are checked- in? We will be checking in early in the morning (between 7:30-8:30am). I don't expect our room to be ready but I was trying to plan out our day. Thanks!

if you check in early in the morning, there usually is not a line at the lobby counter.

it's probably a 5 minute process in all to do the check in.

the TM will confirm your information, verify who you are, explain hotel procedures and perks for the parks, give you the check in packet.

that's it in a nutshell.

i stay there frequently so when i check in, it is a quick process for me.

they can see on my file of my past stays.

all i do each visit is have a cc on file for charging purposes in the parks, and make sure they have my cell number so they can call me with my room number.


if this is the first time you are staying onsite at rph, they will confirm your reservation, check your id's, tell you about the services of the hotel, info on the parks in general, explain star service from your hotel room, info on valet, give you the brochures and docs, etc and chit chat with you.

they do not rush through everything and do ask if you have questions.
the service here is excellent.

if your room is not available when you finish the check in process, they will contact you by phone when it is ready.
or they will tell you that you can call and check with them.

when you do make contact with them, either way, the TM will tell you your room number.
you do not have to go back to the check in lobby counter when you return from the parks to the hotel.
you can go directly to your room.
the TM can program your key for that room's lock once the room is assigned.

you can also request that all your belongings you left with valet, be brought to your room while you are not there.

if you aren't cool with that, you can wait until you are in your room and call down to have your stuff brought to your room.

back to your first question..
drive your car up to the front of the building.
the bell captain will give you a reciept and valet park your car.
he will also have an attendant unpack your car, put your belongings on a cart and give you a ticket stub for it.
in the meantime, you can then go inside the building.
after the walkway inside, go left and to the middle of the counter.
2 minutes tops from car drop off to check in.

check in there.

i have hung around the lobby a few times after i have checked in.

depending on the day of the week you check in, there might be a line if you arrive at 8:30.

We always check in around 6-8 am. There normally never a wait at that time. Also 9-10 times are room has been ready depending on season. We live in FL too and drive there. We normally arrive and park just past valet. Go in and see if the room is ready. If it is we go back out and take our bags out. Depending on lenth of stay we sometimes use bellhop, due to more bags and cooler. Then I go self park and go to the room.

If the room is not ready then I go out and self park. We leave the bags in the car. When we return after the room is ready, once depending on how many bags, we will swithey the parking lot and grab the bags. If too many just pull out of the lot and have bellhop help and return the car back to the lot.

This might sound like more work but I would rather save some money and park myself.

Thanks for the great information.

Is it still $22 per day for valet parking? Once we get there, we don't plan on leaving property, so we think valet will be worth it.

I believe its up to $24 plus tax for valet and $17 for self.

quite possibly.
1. drive up, valet takes luggage from car and you go inside.
2 minutes.

2. walk to check in counter in lobby from front door.
1 minute

3. if not line at check in, register, review hotel info.
varies. count on 5 minutes for sure since you are a newbie there.

4. if a line at check in, could be 5 minute wait.
they usually have the counter staffed sufficiently if a large number are starting to wait in line. then add the 5 min processing for check in.

5. if your room is not ready, you can check your purse with valet or have the TM at check in put it in their back safe.

that is what i do.
if i can't fit things in my pocket, i check the entire purse with a staff member. i don't like carrying my entire life and money inside my purse with me in any park.
i'm neurotic.


give yourself the 20 minute time period.
better to over budget then under budget on time.

now, if you arrive on a weekend, check in very early or you will encounter a wait.




just like bluer posted about parking rates.
they did go up recently.
