Took me awhile to get around to this...
We had two DVC checkins on our trip.
Checked in at VWL around noon on Sat 12/4. We had a studio for just one night. The CM said they had three studios ready, then she got out a map and showed us the locations! One was right next to the side entrance, so we took that. It was 1501, a dedicated studio, and literally the absolutely shortest walk from the lobby (and parking lot) of any VWL room!
After our cruise, we checked in at BCV about 9:00AM on Thu 12/9. Of course our room wasn't ready yet, but being the snoop I am I read the room number assigned to us on the computer screen (529). Thinking of the stories here of people losing their not-yet-occupied room to people checking in later, I said I was very happy with the assigned room and asked what I needed to do to keep it. The CM said after a slight hestitation that it was our room and it would not be reassigned.
So we went off to enjoy Epcot, called back before lunch ("not ready yet") and after lunch ("not quite ready") at Garden Grill. Since we were kind of beat after an early start that day, we headed back anyway. When we got there sometime between 1:30 and 2:00, our room was ready and it WAS still 529. Not the perfect view we had the last couple years but it met all my requests so no complaint.
Overall two excellent check-in experiences. Figured we needed some good report to balance out the bad.
