Hi everyone

We are flying with Virgin next year though our holiday is booked with Thomas Cook Signature, are we allowed to use the virgin check in at DTD?

If so how does this work exactly?

Last time we had a limo booked to pick us up (we do this time also) and it collected us rather early so we spent most of the day in the airport! Not exciting at all.

Has anyone had any problems with check in at DTD?

Thanks everyone for your help with this it is much appreciated

Anyone flying on a Virgin flight can use DTD check in.

Certain people do not have to pay, i.e. if the holiday is booked with Virgin holidays or you are flying UC or you have a Flying Club Gold card.

If not, there is a fee (I don't know how much that is as I have not had to pay, someone else will have this info)

There are two lines, one for GC and UC pax and one for the rest. You are called up to the check in and you check in as normal. Your bags are taken from you and your boarding passes are issued.

If you have something like a car seat, or a small bag with your day clothes in, you can check this in at the airport when you arrive there (so long as the check in is not closed!!)

That's it really. Quite painless :goodvibes

As said above. It's all very easy.

Arrive in the morning, check in, drop your luggage, then enjoy the rest of the day.

Even with Virgin not being as great as it once was, this is a great service and a deciding factor choosing our airline. We were able to enjoy MGM and EPCOT in the last day, then took the drive to the airport, arriving at 6pm for our 8pm flight.

In the past, we have been without a car and often arrived at the airport 3/4 hours before the flight and did not really have enough time to do anything on the last day. DTD check in is Grrrrreat!

Hi I'm Travelling With Travel City Direct Has Anyone Out There Flown With Them Before And What Was It Like?

I think non Virgin holidays package compaines have to pay £5 each to use DTD, VH gives their people a voucher for free.

Fee for non-Virgin holidays customers is $5 each. As already said there are two lines, one for economy and the other for Premium Economy, Upper Class and gold flying club members.

We have used it for a number of years now, and it works really well. That having been said we used online check-in in May. This was also good, so will be a bit of a toss up which we use in the future.

No toss-up. Online check-in is superior. Just getting a bit concerned that we now only seem to communicate via the DIS! :rotfl2:

Hi Ariel - you would probably be better asking this question on a new thread as more people will see it. Sorry I can't help as I've never flown with them but I know quite a few people on here have.

If you use this link for the Trip Planning Forum below, and you will see 'new thread' towards the top of the screen on the left, click on this and insert a thread title such as 'TCD opinions please' and then type your question or comments in and click on 'submit new thread' and you are away....be prepared for any responses. :thumbsup2

It's so long since we used DTD check-in (it was suspended last time we went due to security) so could someone please confirm how long we need to be at the airport? Is it 2 hours B4 flight?

I would say 2 hours yes, however if you have a car you may wish to check what time you are to return this as you wouldn't want to overrun if possible.

thankyou i'm new to all this but i will certainly try it out thanks again
