What are the check in and check out times? We are planning our first trip as a DVC member to BLT in October and trying to schedule flights. If we arrive before check in are your rooms generally available?

:yay:

Check in time for DVC is after 4PM. So that means your villa may not be ready until after 4PM, even as late at 6 or 7pm. Check out time is 11 AM and there are no late checkouts. You can stash your luggage with bell services until it is time to leave, though, so you can still enjoy the pool or the parks.

You can check in as early as 6 or 7am, and you might be lucky and get your villa. It does happen occasionally. And if you villa isn't available yet, again, just leave your stuff with Bell services until your villa is ready.

Check-out is 11:00 a.m. and check-in is 4:00 p.m. or after. Sometimes the room is ready other times not, just the roll of the dice.

Check in is at 4:00 PM or later; check out is at 11:00 AM with no late check out. It takes extra time to clean a DVC villa since they are larger than a regular hotel room so the check in time is later.

We just did our first DVC stay in early March. The room was ready around 2:30 PM. They called my cell phone to notify us as I requested (or you can have a text notification). However if the previous occupant doesn't check out timely, it can delay a villa being ready by 4:00 PM. I've seen posts that their room is always ready by 2:00 PM others even by noon, but I have also seen that their room is never ready before 4:30 and some as late as 6:00 pm. What most DVC members do is drop their luggage off with bell services and either go eat, go to the parks or go to the pool (or a combination of these activities).

My recommendation, is not to expect your room to be ready and be prepared to do something fun. If you have children that need naps, try not to arrive at nap time as there is a good chance your villa won't be ready.

Welcome Home and enjoy your first trip home.

On this tangent, I'm curious about whether other long time DVCers (we've been members since '97) have been seeing the same thing we have.

Specifically, for the first decade or so of membership our villa was almost always ready at check in, which for us has usually been no later than 11am. That was consistently true at BWV, OKW, HHI and VB (I think we had to wait for an hour or so at OKW, but had access by early afternoon).

But starting about four years ago we consistently ran into the same thing: an early or mid-morning check in and being told "villa isn't ready, we'll call you on cell when it is." Fine, off to a park, but 4pm would come and go and (with one exception) no call. We'd then call and be told "soon, soon" with "soon" in one case translating into almost 5pm.

Is this just us, or has "room ready" (and consistent courtesy from the front desk) run its course? :confused3

I think a lot depends on just when you check-in. Meaning, how busy the resort is with check-ins/check-outs, and day of the week.

I've still gotten in relatively early at OKW lately, but have also had to wait until 4pm (or a little later) on some occasions. There are just so many variable factors., including just when the previous occupant may have vacated, and what condition the room was left in.
