With the new credit score changes, where's the most trustworthy/least expensive place to check your current credit score. I'm just feeling curious....

The only place I know to get the true scores is myfico.com - if there is somewhere else to buy them, I'm not aware of it and would love to know! Oh, and you can now only get two of the big three...one of them (Equifax maybe?!) stopped providing scores to individuals.

Good luck and hope it's good news! I haven't checked mine in a while and probably should too. Oh, and do a search for coupons before ordering - you can usually save 20%!

I was able to check my credit score for free with my American Express credit card. I can only do this one time a year.

We've used Annualcreditreport.com in the past. We haven't checked it with them in a few years though, because we bought a new car and got a copy from the bank and as well from our mortgage lender in the past couple years.

When we used Annual Credit Report, it was free. Don't know if it still is, but they were reputable and we had no problems with them.:thumbsup2

Anyone know anything about creditkarma.com? You can get your credit score free anytime/as often as you like. I read about it in an article last week either on msn or yahoo.

CreditKarma, Credit Check Total, Freecreditreport.com, annualcreditreport.com do not provide real FICO scores. They provide their own version of some made up crappy number. The ONLY real place to get your true FICO score is myfico.com There is no place to get your Experian score anymore though.

SW94608 discount price is $10.95 - For EQUIFAX only though.

FINANCIALHELP25 25% discount $11.95

CPPSavings 20% discount $12.76

That's the one that you can't get - I knew it was one of the E ones. :rotfl:

As for FICO scores, anything but is meaningless IMO. Now there are some who may not care about credit scores, but for those who do the FICO ones are the ones to get.

I just checked my credit report over the weekend through annualcreditreport.com.

The report itself is free, but if you wanted to know your credit score it was an additional $7.95

That is a waste of $7.95 as it is not a real FICO Score.

I didn't know that about CreditKarma....I saw them recommended by several people on another website and according to the CreditKarma site they collect the FICO score from TransUnion.:confused3

I haven't gotten mine in a while, but equifax gives your actual FICO score (or it sure looked real, it had the FICO trademark). The other two gave a "credit score".

What do you mean with the new credit score changes?

I heard they changed the way they compile your credit score, now counting the number of credit cards as opposed to balances. A friend told me her dad was denied a mortgage last minute becuase his score dropped 65 points in one day. I know DH one Christmas many years ago opened up a ton of credit cards to get their "discount" at each store. I'm wondering if that will be affecting our scores....

I haven't heard of this...please don't think I'm stupid, but does that mean if you have more cards but never carry a balance you're "well off"...or not?

Quizzle.com and CreditKarma.com will give you a credit score for free but as has been stated they are not the "real" score just a representation of it which is better than nothing.

annualcreditreport.com is the portal through which the Federal Government requires Equifax, Experian, and Transunion to provide you with your government mandated once yearly copy of your credit report.

As you go through the process, the companies will attempt to sell you your credit score, credit monitoring services, etc, but the actual report is free. It does not contain your credit score though.
