cheapest way to reach Orlando airport from POP century

We are planing to take two days off from within our Disney trip to see the space center. We will use ME from airport to POP century when we reach Orlando. For the trip to space center, my husband booked a rental car using United air miles. The problem is that the United pickup location is at the airport itself.

What is the cheapest way (shuttle /bus) to reach airport from resort and then back (after dropping the rental car) ?The taxis/ rental cars seem to be costly option.

We were thinking of canceling this United car rental reservation, and getting through another agency from Disney itself, but we'll lose the air miles then !!

I believe you can take the LYNX bus to the Orlando airport.

I just checked their website (golynx.com) and it looks like you would take the bus from Pop Century to Downtown Disney and then take the Lynx bus from DTD (stop # 05643) to the airport (stop # 05566). It looks like the trip from DTD to MCO would take around 54 minutes.

Standard one way fare is $2.

I would double check with the car rental agency to see if you can pick up from a non-airport location. I would be really surprised if the award was for airport locations only.

We checked again... yes, for the booking using air miles, the car pick up location is at airport only.

How many miles will you lose if you don't bother getting the car? The cost for two people to take the Mears shuttle to MCO is probably as much as the cost to rent a car for a day (or close).

Lynx is the cheapest way to go but you'll waste time.

Find out how much more it would cost to get the car for your entire trip. Or get the car near the end of your trip and return it to MCO then fly home.
