We have 3 Disney trips coming up and it is just going to be cheaper to get an annual pass. My husband is military and I thought if we bought it through shades of green we could save the tax but that doesn't seem to be the case. I am still waiting from a call back from them.

So should we buy tickets through park savers and then upgrade after the first use? Or is there a better offer out there?

MIL can get tickets through GE 5 day hoppers for $339 would that be cheaper option ?

We bought Hoppers from Undercover Tourist last year and upgraded on our first day there in Oct, we saved the difference between Disney's price and that of UT on the hoppers.

Ok so if I buy the 7 days plus 3 days free hoppers for park savers for $370.98 when we go to upgrade them we would get a credit of $424.94 which is the price for a 7 day hopper?

NOTE:
You need to USE the original ticket to go into a THEME PARK at least one time BEFORE you do the upgrade.

After that, your discounted ticket can be "price-bridged" up to the current (that day) cost
of the same kind of ticket at the WDW gates.

It's a Disney bookkeeping thing.

Thank you! Can you charge your tickets back to the room ? We usually don't carry our card anymore.

I had thought the same, but looking into it there is only a savings of about $24. buying through Shades of Green.

Anyone know if you can do this and upgrade to DVC APs ?

Interesting. So if I show up at guest services with a 6 day full price ticket I bought at WDW and it is an unused ticket I cannot upgrade to an AP? Or does that only matter with a discounted ticket? Is it the difference in ticket prices that makes the difference? So if I bought the ticket before the price increase then I need to use it first to bring it up to the current price?

When is the latest you can upgrade to an AP? Say you go with a 6 day pass and you want to upgrade to an AP. Do you have to upgrade on day 1? Can you upgrade on day 6?

1. You certainly CAN do that.
2. Yes. Discounted tickets, which include tickets bought as part of a WDW resort package.
3. Won't matter if you ordered directly from Disney. Disney tickets don't get price-bridged. But, if you bought from a discounter, the price will be bridged.
4. Nope.
5. Sure.
But, if you update on day one, you can take advantage of AP perks immediately.

Thanks so much! Very informative, as usual.

I bought discounted Target gift cards to buy Disney gift cards through Target. Paid 660 per pass.

Price increase predicted on multiple sites and sources starting Sunday.

Thanks I already got the tickets from park savers now I am hoping AP don't increase I know they just increased those in October. Fingers crossed.

That is a great idea I am going to do that for the remainder of the ticket cost which will end up saving us about $100+ per ticket. $660 before tax? If my calculations are right we should end up paying around $645 per AP before tax. Of course that depends on what happens tomorrow with the price increase if they just increase park tickets that would mean extra savings.

OK...I know you answered something similar above, but I want to be sure.

Currently I have an AP that will expire Oct. 16. I am not planning to renew it, as I'm not positive that I'll be going to WDW more than one trip within the year following that.

Here's my scenario:

I do have a trip planned for Nov. 27 - Dec 3, which I just got PH tickets added to as a package through my TA on Friday, in order to not have to pay the increased price. No Dining plan included. We did just fine the last two trips with out of pocket dining, splitting meals at TS and ordering from the children's menu at QS.

I MAY be able to schedule a trip Spring of 2017, and if so, would like to renew, or purchase another AP to cover both of these trips, as I know I would at least break even on cost, and probably save more with the AP discount and TIW dining card.

So...QUESTIONS:

1. How long after expiration can I renew my existing AP? Renewing is cheaper than getting a new one, and it's ok if the date stays at Oct.16.

2. I can't really renew it until I arrive (or until we have all our 11/27 plans carved in stone and air fare booked) as the package requires all room occupants to have the same ticket package - I read that to mean I can't renew until we get there and keep my companions PH pass. If we were to drop our PH passes, change to a Room Only reservation, and get her PH pass separately, and then for some terrible reason end up having to cancel, I don't believe we could cancel her PH ticket - correct?

3. If I can't renew my existing AP when we arrive 11/27, I think I would still be ahead with upgrading my PH pass after first use that day to bridge to the current price - correct?

Everything really hinges on if I can talk my sister into a trip in the Spring!!

Thanks in advance!

Help needed...we are visiting Disney World this summer as part of a Disney Vacation Sports package. We get a 3 day park hopper ticket as part of the package. I want to upgrade that ticket to an Annual Pass. Can we upgrade these tickets once we have used one day on the tickets?? The reason I ask is our Disney Travel agent told us we can only upgrade these tickets prior to our arrival and can only upgrade these tickets to 4, 5, or 6 day tickets and cant upgrade to Annual Passes. From everything I am reading on these forums, even if a ticket is purchased from UT or another discount service, they can be upgraded. Any advice?? Thanks a million!!

I would love to help you if I knew enough about it, but I am learning about upgrading myself. Maybe Robo can help. He seems to know a lot about ticket upgrades (and just about everything else Disney).
