Hi there,

We are going to DisneyLand in September and starting to look at flights. They all seem so expensive, but there are also so many options. What airport is cheapest to fly into? What airlines should we look at?

Thanks!

If you can fly into SNA (Orange County) then it is much closer to DLR - also, if you rent a car, then you do not have to take a shuttle to the rental car lot like you do with LAX as it's so huge.

September is a long way off at this point - we are flying on May 1st and just booked our flight mid February with Westjet - I pretty much started checking flights daily end of January and finally saw it come down to about $400 per person including all fees and taxes which was a very good price from Calgary.

If you are on Facebook, you can like any airline and they will keep you posted on sales, as well as setting up for their emails that alert you to deals as well.

Have fun looking!! :)

Also try LGB (Long Beach). It is a great little airport and a quick cab ride to Disneyland.

If you use a tool like kayak.com tick "add nearby airports" to broaden your search.

I always find the cheapest way to fly to the states is to use Airmiles to get just across the border and then find cheap fares within the country. It takes a lot of airmiles to get further into the states, but they get good seat sales within the country.

Not sure where you are but I also try to fly out of a US departure point (usually Buffalo) and it is amazingly cheaper, especially if you are a family of four like us. I use Kayak and I have a fare watcher on Travelocity as well as I get updates from Smarter Travel for airfare sales. You can also do a little research on FlyerTalk, it is an amazing forum! One thing I will say is that I have always found it cheaper to fly into LAX (we have been 4 times) than into John Wayne but the traffic is nutty and you need to factor that drive time into your situation. It is really not far from LA to Anaheim it just can be congested traffic wise so try to time you flight landing so that you are not in rush hour.

I agree with alohamom...if you are near a US border, it is so much cheaper to fly out of the US. We fly out of the Buffalo airport and the flights are usually more than half what they would be out of Toronto.

We are south so we always fly out of Detroit. I just cringe when I even dare look at flights out Toronto. Although some of my family called westjet and they matched the flights she had been looking at from Delta out of Detroit. Which turned out alright , No baggage fees. :)

I have no idea where you are. We find it much less expensive to drive to Seattle and fly from there. We are using JetBlue to Long Beach again this year.

We've found that flying into LAX is usually the cheapest, though not the most pleasant. If you're willing to make connections, you can sometimes find some pretty good deals. We usually only look at West Jet and Air Canada, and usually go with Air Canada as they have two and two seats for that flight instead of three and three which we prefer. Our last trip we got round trip flights for around $240/person before taxes from Calgary. Keep checking!

One tip I've heard, not sure if it works, is to delete your search history and cookies every time before checking flights. Apparently if the site can see that you're looking at the same flights, they may sneak up the prices. Not sure if it's true, but may be worth trying. Good luck!

We're flying from detroit to lax. I priced flights into the smaller pnes like OC but they were more and had a stop on the way. Direct to lax was $148 with Southwest one way !
