we are thinking about doing an unlimited photo package.

we are DVC, CC Silver, and have the Chase Disney Visa.

which deal is usually the best - and should we buy on board or use the prepaid service through the website before we sail?

The least expensive is to book ahead for all photos.

If you find that you only have a handful of photos that you like for the duration of the cruise on the last night, depending upon the length of the sailing and therefore the pre-cruise price of the photo package, you can always cancel the full package and use the Disney visa for the discount on a smaller photo package.
