so my gf and i are all booked for disney from october 21st thru the 28th. the only thing we have left to book is the rental car. i am hoping to get something at the airport but im not sure where to find the lowest rate. does anybody have any idea where to get the cheapest possible rental car? any help would be much appreciated.

We got ours for almost the same dates through hotwire. It was about 30ish/day including taxes. Sign up for their email updates!

I've also heard that Payless car rental is reasonable. Worth a look!

Advantage is very inexpensive. Offsite location, the shuttle runs every ten minutes, so you have an average of a five minute wait. have used them twice. Good place.

yea i REALLY cheaped out on this vacation. found round trip flights for 179 each round trip. got 5 day base park tix. and we are staying at the red roof inn (i am a red roof club member and got teh room for like 17 a night. lol. now i just need to find a rental car physically at the airport. i have never flown into MCO(orlando) so i'm not sure how it is set up or how far the car rental places are. i am also not sure how far it is from the disney parks either but thats a non factor to me.

We have always had good luck with Dollar rent a car. They have a p/u location at the Orlando airport so no shuttles. They have a special for a compact car for $23.99 a day thru the end of September.

If I were you I would go on their website join their club (free) and watch for specials. I think you need to wait a couple more weeks for the best deal but I would start watching it now.

I personally like the no shuttle thing when I can find it. Check Enterprise too. They have a huge operation in Orlando.

Check www.mousesavers.com for discount codes. Back in April I found I did the best using Priceline. I ended up with a compact for $13/day. It didn't accept my bid until about 2 weeks before the trip. Prior to that the least expensive I found was Dollar for $25/day using code OOAG.

If you have an Entertainment Book we did Alamo which is in the airport and the price was the same as Payless car rental. Payless was for an economy size car and Alamo gave us a class upgrade to compact instead of economy.

If you're staying on WDW property and not planning on going anywhere else, then taking WDW's Magical Express is the cheapest option (free). It's way faster and easier than renting a car.

Advantage has been bought out by Hertz and they have changed alot.

Right now Hotwire for your dates is $239.45 for a mid-size. It's about $8 less for a compact.

Booking directly, with coupon codes, seems to be about $300.

But you will likely be able to get it even less than Hotwire by using Priceline.

Are you all accessing the codes/information listed on mousesavers.com?

I've got a mid-size for 8 days for $192 (total) through National, Sept 25-Oct 3. So that ends up being (including tax/fees) $24/day.

That is what we paid per day for a 5 day rental with a coupon from the Entertainment book as well.

Hello again,
I just got a compact rental for $8 a day from priceline. With taxes and fees it came to $130.12 for the full 8 days. The rental is from Alamo which is inside the airport. I am very happy with this. I have canceled my Payless reservation. I would rather pay the extra $10 for a rental agency that has a good reputation and is inside the airport.

OMG!! Really? Ok. I have to check that out.

National has some good last mintute rates. Right now they are offering a compact for $18/day plus tax, but only until 10/8. Check with them again closer to your arrival and maybe you can get a good deal. They are located in the terminal. Also, sign up for their Emerald Club and get another 10% off. If you have an Entertainment book you can use the coupons in there, also.

Definitely do what another poster suggested and check out the discount codes on mousesavers.com. Thats what we did for our trip to San Diego last year. We got a midsize through National for 10 days for about $215, including all taxes and fees. Plus we got free membership to the Emerald Isle club (usually $50) where you get to pick your own car. We ended up with a sweet Volvo wagon.

Dollar has some good rates right now. The best last minute rates at Dollar are obtained by not putting in any codes. That brings you to a list of car prices and, usually, a click here for specials.
Right now for a week rental beginning on Sept. 25, the rate is $111.00 (before taxes and fees).

ok, so i have my hotel, flight and park tickets already purchased and teh only thing left is the rental car. is this something that i can wait for to purchase? like do they get cheaper or more expensive as the trip date approaches? so far after taxes and fees its about 210 for 7 nights for a compact car.
