We are dog sitting and normally buy our own pup's food at Costco. The dog we are watching eats Purina One. Where is the least expensive place to buy big brand dog food? Pet store? Target? Grocery store? TIA.

I order right from Amazon! Free shipping right to my door! I don't have to lug a big bag home and into the house! It is priced cheaper as well. :thumbsup2

Probably Costco or Walmart. Honestly, if I were pet sitting for someone, and I had to go out and buy dog food, I'd do it in a way that was convenient for me and not worry about the small $ savings of running around to find the lowest price, because I wouldn't be paying for it, the dog's owner would for sure be reimbursing me. Who leaves their dog with a pet sitter and doesn't make sure there's enough food?

Yuck. I'm sure Walmart probably sells it and it's probably cheapest there.

You can check prices online at k9cuisine or doggiefood.com but I'm assuming you would probably need it before it would actually arrive to your house.

I'm also shocked someone (even if they were family members) would leave their pet without plenty of food! Even if I were gone for a month I would provide enough food.

Our golden retrievers eat Purina One Chicken and Rice and Amazon is way more expensive for the 31 pound bag than Target, Walmart or even PetSmart. Target and PetSmart seem to rotate "sales" on Purina One dog foods, so if you happen to see it in their advertisements you'd likely find the best price there. Sam's Club offered a bigger size bag, but it was only pennies cheaper (and you had to manage an even more ungainly bag.)

One question, do they have dog food at their own home? If you have a key you go and get it. I can not imagine not giving you their food. But Walmart may be the cheapest.

Chewy.com has, by far, the best price for the brand we buy (Canidae). We set up regular automated delivery and order the large bag to qualify for free shipping

Era: but I see for your situation, that's pretty irrelevant advice :p

We feed our dogs Purina One and it is $5 cheaper at Target, for the large bags, than it is even at Walmart. Prices may vary in your area but we always buy it at Target.

Wow - thank for the website. The dog food we buy is $10.00 a bag cheaper than the store! I think I am switching!
