What is the least amount of money anyone has paid to go on a 7 day cruise? I thought I saw something on another sight for $599. Am I crazy or do they ever go that low? Also how much for childs fare?

I did see on the Internet that the prices for 7 day cruises in Jan. were 599. I received that price but I am a Florida Resident.

what category was the $599.00 deal? That seems incredibly low.

It was a cat.11 and we were upgraded to cat. 8 but..................that cruise was cancelled. NOV.30th. We had to rebook, but for the trouble we received 50% off. So I put that money back into the cruise (since they would not give my my free upgrade on the new cruise). and got a veranda. I think the Florida rate is still on till feb.

w@w, what an incredible deal...$599.00 with an upgrade to cat 8 and then 50% off due to cancellation. What was the cost of the veranda stateroom not including your 50% disc?

That's a hard one. with our 50% off. we paid 600 for the veranda but that was also with the 50% off. so I'm assuming it would have been a $1,200. upgrade.

I just noticed that January cruises are $599 on Dreams Unlimited's site. Do they normally do this for last minute deals or is it just for off season? Will they possibly do this again in September since that is off season too? Anyone remember this past year's situation? I want to go next September as you can probably tell! Thanks.

Disneydawn, they do not usually do last-minute deals. The January rates for lower cabin categories are because it is a slower time of year. Your best bet is to book NOW for the best early booking savings and if the price goes down you can always get the price adjusted. :)

Does anyone know what the time period is for the early booking discount? How many months ahead of the cruise date?

As different tiers fill up at each of the discount rate then the price is bumped up to the next tier. So depending on how fast a particular cruise sells that is how fast the early booking discounts evaporate. Or something like that I am sure Michelle can explain it better.

We just booked last minute for 7 days on the 1/25 Magic, last minute for a category 10 (inside) was less than 500 a person. I have also gotten great deals on rooms at disney world in the past by booking last minute. Even some of the airfares are cheaper now (14 day advance) than they were 2 weeks ago.

Good Luck in your search, just keep trying and each time you speak with a travel agent ask them if they can beat price XYZ that you got off the internet. Also, it is almost always cheaper to book air, transfers, etc yourself rather than getting a "package" price.

So if you booked for January months ago and the price has dropped now, will you get the new price that others are paying?

Do you have to ask for it from DU or do they do this automatically?

Can someone explain???

i would doubt that you would get any type of refund for the price going down as i assuming it is just like any other hotel or an airline - if your ticket was 500.00 and i book at 250.00 3 days later - normally they don't give you anything.

it probably is not worth it to try and ask though but remember i didn't book my trip with disney or du and disney makes the ultimate decision.

through the internet via cruise.com and i booked my air (162.00 RT) through travelocity.

My wife and I sailed in a category 11 last year for $529 per person on a 7 day voyage.

How I got it? Well, THAT will remain a secret.

It is a method not everyone can acquire, so I could not help you unless you qualified. If you qualify, you know about it! :)

And no, I do not live in Florida or work for Disney or any of it's vendors...

Actually, you often can get an adjustment on your price with DCL if the price goes down. You would need to talk with whomever you booked to find out if an adjustment is available - be aware that some travel agents are less than helpful or forthcoming about this information as it means less of a commission for them but they should do their part if requested. In order to get an adjustment, there would need to be availability for that rate within your existing reservation category and you would need to qualify for the new rate (e.g. Florida Resident Rate etc.). There is NO HARM in asking - you have nothing to lose and you might get a nice adjustment on your price.

BTW, with many airlines you can also get an adjustment when the airfare goes down. It is almost always done in the form of a voucher for future travel on the same airline - usually good for one year from date of issue. You must call when the fare is available and it must be for the same flights etc. I have done this multiple times and although my savings are not usually huge I figure any amount is a savings if I can use the voucher before it expires.

Happy Cruising Everyone!

I was just online looking at last minute info on the net for our cruise that leaves tomorrow... Our cruise was booked 12/21 last minute the total for 2 cat 11 cabins next to each other with 6 people tax and port included was 2980.00$ We have deck 6 and have 2 cabins next to one another one is a handicap cabin.. ( larger) ... I dont know why we were give this larger Handicap cabin??? I know that port tax included the 1st 2 in each cabin were 599.00. the other 2 kids were the rest. one is an infant that only paid port and taxes.
All said and done, it was a very smooth transition... ticketing and all. Here we are in Cocoa beach ready to embark!
Vacations to go which is on the internet has treated us wonderfully. They specialize in last minute bookings and low prices. They have a 90 day ticker with all the low prices on cruises for the next 90 days... I would suggest you look at them.. If all else fails you can use it to price match with your current agent. Oh by the way.... We also get two 50$ on board credits for being disney club members... I will see if that comes to fruition tomorrow, I guess!
I will never forget our 1st cruise on RCL to the mediterranian ( on the legend of the seas) We thought we had a great price only to find out that every one at our table paid less than we did and we were the only ones in an inside Cabin****!!live and learn

All right. Let's clear this up once and for all! The $599 rate is a promotional rate that first surfaced in November and has been available on almost all non-holiday, 7-night sailings since then. This is the only promotion that DCL has run in the past ten months, other than the Florida Resident rates and military discounts. It applies to Category 11 only, but since they oversell each category, some who book without stateroom assignment end up being bumped up to a higher category after their payment is made and their stateroom is assigned.

This Category 11 promotional rate normally comes out two to four weeks prior to sailing. Although you might luck into a great last minute deal like this, anyone who counts on saving money on a Disney Cruise by waiting to book until the last minute generally makes a HUGE mistake. DCL used to run Springtime Magic, Fall Fantasy and other promotions, but it appears that those are a thing of the past. All rates offered directly by DCL are available through travel agents as well, however, many travel agencies such as DU and allseastravel.com have access to rates that are not available directly through DCL.

Regarding the comments about travel agents not lowering prices because of reduced commissions..........

If your travel agent does not contact you about a rate reduction without your having to contact them, you are using the wrong travel agent. Reputable agencies, such as DU or allseastravel.com make it their business to be completely up to date on DCL's pricing and to contact you about rate reductions. Those agencies are often aware of price fluctuations, Category 11 promotions, Florida Resident rates, etc., before people on the DCL's reservations floor become aware of them. If you book directly with DCL, you will NEVER be contacted about a rate reduction. You will have to contact them. That is not the case with a good travel agent.

Do yourself a favor. Visit www.dreamsunlimited.com and www.allseastravel.com. Review both, and contact both before booking, but DON'T book directly with Disney!
