I have been looking at car rental rates for 1/15 thru 1/19. The cheapest I can come up with is $159 before taxes/fees. Its more like $200 after! :sad2: I know I have gotten cheaper rates than this before. What is everyone getting for a weeks rental in Jan. and what codes are you using?

I have a Chevy Equinox reserved at Alamo through Costco for five nights in January for $189 including taxes and fees. That's the best I've been able to do so far.

Have you checked National? They've got a $40 coupon on the website (click the Specials tab) that's valid until, I think, the beginning of February - although if I'm wrong and it expires in January, please accept my advance apology.

I found reservations for 1/6-1/13 at Enterprise for $165 ($208.60 after tax)
and at Budget for $169 for the week ($214.88 after tax). These are for intermediate size vehicles - Enterprise was a little cheaper for an economy/compact, but I don't remember how much. I used a code from Mousesavers for Budget.

Hotwire lists an economy car for $146.65 ($194.30 after tax) for that week, but you have to pay in advance to find the company.

I've never tried priceline for cars, but if you are really wanting something cheaper, you might check with them.

I am having the same problem. We are going Jan 17-21 and the cheapest I could get was 184 plus taxes. Is there something going on that weekend??

If you got $159 weekly rate consider yourself lucky. The car rates have been high since the end of summer. Even during the slower times like September, there were hardly any deals. The days of low rates seem to be in the past now. I check daily and have finally come to terms with it. My last trip was late October for 2 weeks and nothing good ever showed up until I got $159 for an intermediate base rate on National. That was the best I've seen over the last 6 months. Now I continue to search for a decent fare I can live with for my first week of February. Right now I'm holding $214 for a week mid-size SUV with Alamo. National is about $25 more. All you can do is keep watching, but prepare yourself that's it's not going to get much better. You rarely see below $200 base rate with National now. Dollar had some good rates recently using the KISS2 code. I live for the days when I could log onto the disboards and see that wonderful thread that said "rates have dropped..." but you hardly see them anymore.

What codes or specials did you use if you don't mind my asking? This is the cheapest I have seen. :)

Is National located at the terminal or do you have to take a shuttle?

Using the $20 off coupon from the Entertaiment book, Alamo is $113.06 total for these dates.

What is the coupon code for Alamo from the entertainment book? If I can get my rental down to that price it is worth it to pay the 20 for the book. Did you use any ID or rate code?
Thanks

Hi,

Try ID code 5125601 with the $40 coupon on National's site. We got a rate of $188 taxes included for 8 days from 12/30 to 1/06. It may help if your a member of National's Emerald Isle Club. It costs $50 dollars to join, but mousesavers members can join for free

We're booked with National from 1/13 thru 1/20....picking up at MCO, we're EC members and used the $25 internet coup from National website (the $40 one expires 1/1/07). The best I can do so far is $351 taxes included for a minivan (Uplander). I got a price $100 less from Budget same dates MCO pickup, but, we want additional driver which we get from National EC, not so from Budget. If anyone knows of a way to get free additional driver from Budget please let me know. Thanks.

I booked a midsize car at Alamo for a week (1/10 - 1/16) for $187 (including tax) using the $20 a week printable coupon on mousesavers and the Walmart discount. It allowed me to combine both. For a compact it would have been $171 (including tax). The coupon says that it can't be combined with other discounts, but it did give me the Walmart discount with the coupon.

The ID code and coupon code are on the Entertainment coupon, as well as the printable coupon on Entertainment.com

Donna, We rented from them last year because we so appreciated that Budget was one of the few, if not the only, company which let the spouse drive for free-- has this changed? If it has, perhaps if you join their Fastbreak Club then the fee is waived?

BTW we just returned from WDW and did a get a van on the EA (there was only one, we got lucky I guess). Cost $159 for the week at the intermediate rate.

1 minute ago Hertz had economy car for your dates at $167 Total incl. taxes or Midsize for $187. Use CDP# 205418. Less walking and much faster than renting onsite. JMHO
