Wanting to try to fit a trip in... Dont have a lot to spend though. What are the cheapest hotels around? Still clean and safe as we have young kids. How do you get to disney from them?

that would be Motel 6 MainGate http://www.motel6-anaheim.com/

I have stayed here twice, June 2014 and June 2015 and I will stay there again for my next trip

It is one of the newer build Motel 6 and for me its ideal. The rooms are huge, two king beds fit easily and the bathroom is a good size too. There is no breakfast but they have vending machines, microwaves and coffee for guest use in the lobby. They also have a pool. This year I ordered in Dominos on my arrival day.

To get to the park you need to get the Anaheim Resort Transit shuttle. http://rideart.org/ Motel 6 is on Route 7
This runs every 20 minutes from the hotel to Disney. Motel 6 is the last hotel pick up on the way to Disney and first drop off on the way back from Disney, so only about 10 minutes from the park. The shuttle bus goes to / from the Disney Transport Area, which is on Harbour Boulevard side of Disney Plaza

Do not stay at the Alamo Inn. Please read the above thread.

I have heard that the Stanford Inn gets fairly good reviews and always seems reasonably priced on Orbitz. Also watch for the Orbitz or Cheaptickets promo codes for an extra 15-20% off. You can also join LMTClub.com. There is a$50 membership fee, but you can often find a code online for that. They often have The Marriott Suites at $79/nt. you would need to take ART from either of those places.

I really loved The Tropicana. It was five years ago so I don't know if it has changed. I don't know if it's the cheapest but the only 'surprise' it came with was the free 'breakfast' - 1 Hostess donut and an apple. I found the rooms to be good, you can watch the fireworks and it's always good to be able to just nip 'home' for a few hours' rest in the middle of the day and go back for the parade and fireworks.

Another vote for Motel 6 Maingate! You absolutely can't beat the price!! The rooms are huge and the ART stops there first in the morning!! We've also walked to the parks. It's about 3/4 of a mile.

:thumbsup2 although I notice you said you walked TO the park not back from the park, that ART shuttle is such a welcome sight after 10 plus hours in the park :rotfl:

If you are planning several months in advance, you can usually get a pretty good deal at the Desert Inn and Suites. It tends to be the least expensive on the closest block of Harbor. It's pretty much right across the street from the esplanade. The free breakfast is nothing special, but the rooms are pretty comfortable and clean.

We have stayed at the Tropicana Inn for as little as $90 a night in the past. The rate we were able to get this year was (IIRC) appx $118/night - but it's higher because we're there the weekend of the Avengers 1/2 Marathon. I would think a non-event weekend could be less than that.

The Tropicana is right across the street from the DL entrance on Harbor Blvd. It's appx a 5-10 min walk from the Tropicana to the turnstiles at DL.

Just FTR, I don't believe there is a free breakfast of any kind at the Tropicana anymore. It wasn't listed as an amenity when we booked our stay there for November this year.

Trust me, you are missing NOTHING!! I hope you enjoy the hotel though. Next door is the Marriot (?) and they have a good breakfast room. It's not free i.e. anyone is welcome, you don't have to stay there. There's "grab and go" things or sit-down things.

I stayed at Stanford, it was good. You're in the 'resort zone' for most of Harbor, so most everything there is well-lit and upkept looking on that street. It was clean enough, decent price.

It was walking distance for us as adults (it was a long haul, but doable), but with kids you might want to take ART (stop is next door, 2 buses go down Harbor one after the other) or walk to the Toy Story lot a block or so down and take their free shuttle.

We stayed at a hotel near the Motel 6, also on route 7, and we walked. We did not have kids on that trip.

We got a price of $89 for Desert Inn last year, they do have fees, which adds another $15 per night. However they have a free breakfast too. It's right across the street from the Disneyland entrance and is so convenient. Keep in mind that using the ART adds an extra fee per person per day if you stay at a farther hotel to save a few bucks.

We really like the Quality Inn and Suites Anaheim at the Park on Katella. They offer a pretty good, free, and mostly hot breakfast. They are cheaper than the QIS near the HOJO. Parking is either free, or something like $2 a night. The walk is easy enough. You cross the street to Disneyland Drive and walk through the Grand Hotel, which dumps you into DTD near the park gates. You can get rates around $60 if you book at the right time and prepay, typically closer to $80-$90 for a 2 queen.

We've stayed at the Tropicana before, and I want to say they did offer free breakfsat back then, but we never bothered. We usually get breakfast stuff from a grocery store to keep in our room...we get exactly what we want, and the convenience of eating in the room :)

We loved our stay at the Camelot Inn and Suites on Harbor Blvd. in August. It was an easy 5-10 minute walk to the turnstiles. We plan to stay there again on our next trip.

So how do i get the best deal on motel 6? Seems they dont charge parking right?
Tropicana is booked on one of our nights. Its next month so we don't have long to figure things out!! Lol
