If a later flight is an option for you, why not just drive down beforehand and park at the airport? That way, you don't have to pay for a hotel in Seattle at all :thumbsup2 I'm not sure where in BC you are, but we're in South Surrey and it takes us about 2 hours to drive from our house to the Easy Park lot at SeaTac (that's assuming minimal border wait). We prefer taking the red-eye and sleeping on the way to MCO - since we're losing 3 hours going from west to east, we like to get to MCO early in the morning and just start our day!

Last time we stayed at the Doubletree suites at Southcentre for $105.00 and it included parking for two weeks and breakfast as well as the shuttle.

Was this an Entertainment book rate? I came up with $249 for 1 night and that's parking for 5 days.

We always fly southwest from seattle - usually I can fly for 79-99 one way if I keep a good watch on the fares.

Also a good hotel option is to use hotwire if you don't need parking.
Otherwise try the Best Western Executel - I pay about $120-149 for room and a week parking when I stay there. It is no frills, but clean and friendly, has a restaurant on site, indoor pool and free hot breakfast.

We usually name our own price using www.priceline.com. We have always gotten the Doubletree Airport, a 3*, once for as low as $27 and another time for $60. It depends on the time of year. The Doubletree is excellent, clean, and spacious. Our room was always looking updated. The only con about this hotel is how BIG it is -- we had a heck of a time trying to find our room!

We always use the Master Park garage to keep our car. They have coupons online. They are also a 24-hour secured, patrolled lot.

If you do use Priceline to get a hotel, make sure you select at least a 3* hotel. Some of those 1* and 2* hotels/motels near the airport are questionable in quality, so beware and do your homework using Tripadvisor.

Can I just inquire about Priceline, how does it work? I am concerned because we are non smokers and would need a non smoking room and I didn't see how we could request a non smoking room?
thanks in advance :)

After getting my Priceline hotel, I always call the hotel to make my special requests (i.e. non-smoking, 2 double beds). They can't guarantee your request, but oftentimes than not, we always get what we want. Only once, in our 8 years of using Priceline did we NOT get our double bed request, and that was in NYC due to lack of availability. But they moved us the next night to honour our request.

Also, it helps if after you find out you get the Doubletree, for example, you sign up for their Hilton Honors program. You won't get points for your Priceline stay (because it's a travel discounter) but you will get better treatment. For example, Starwood members, whether you booked on Priceline or not, get to stay on their Starwood Preferred floor.

You have to keep watching. We are paying $119 each way on Air Canada.

West Jet was $92 each way for a while but those seats sold out b4 we could make up our minds if we were going or not!

WOW... I've been looking up prices from YVR - MCO and even SEA-MCO and I don't know if it's just me but the prices have seemed to have gone up substantially -- anybody else noticing this?

Has anybody heard of any deals/seat sales going on as I'm finding piddly. :(

I am planning a big big vacation - hubby and I going with my bro and his family.

Yeah the prices right now are really dumb. I find thoughout the last 2 months that if you go on websites like Oribitz, getawaytoday.com, travelocity, expedia etc. their prices go down a bit on Wed. mornings and only for the one day. I got like $400 of my package due to waiting for that one day of the week.

We are flying Seattle to Orlando in April for $212.00 US each return including taxes etc.

The flight stops in Phoenix, but it's only there for 20 minutes to offload and load passengers, we don't even get off the plane.

We stay at the Holiday Inn Express Seatac. We are paying $119.00 USD. That is for a suite with 2 double beds in the bedroom, and a double sofa in the living room. So 6 of us can split the room costs.

We park at Master Park, using an online coupon.

That's a good airfare. Which airline?

oops I thought I put the airline in there... it's Southwest.

The trick with Southwest is to try and get a flight that says 1 stop with not city letters - that means you don't have to change planes.

e.g.
This flight will leave Seatac at 620am and arrive at MCO at 615pm, but you'll have to change planes at Chicago Midway.
1649/2770 6:20am 6:15pm MDW/1 8:55

This flight will stop once but you don,t have to change planes (usually this stop is in Phoenix but it can vary)
1592 9:40am 7:55pm 1

Thanks, I've signed up for their email updates for fare specials. How do you find getting the seating when you haven't got reserved seats? Thankfully the kids are older now, so sitting two and two a distance apart in the plane isn't too big a deal.

Does Southwest charge extra for luggage?
