Cheaper Car Hire !!

Having received lots of restaurant recommendations from board members, I guess it's pay-back time.

After discovering that the Dollar Car rental rates had fallen, I was recommended to visit www.floridahomesandtravel.com. I had not considered booking with anyone other than directly with the car rental company.

Well I've just saved £70 on the current Dollar price and £100 on my reservation made a year ago.

Dollar were excellent when I cancelled with them - and credited my credit card within 24 hours.

Floridahomesandtravel have been 1st class - you can get either a Dollar or Alamo vehicle and you deal directly with Elle (so none of this call centre stuff). As a subscriber you get a further discount on the advertised rates. Therefore I'm a happy bunny!

Well that's earned my family 3 more meals on the 192 - so we're going to be too busy eating to bother with those boring theme park places like Disney and Universal!!

Now the next challenge from my wife - to reduce the in-house food bill. Anyone know how you can win a five minute shopping trolley dash around Publix???

That's a worthwhile saving, Trevor. We booked a Dollar car through Sunchase last October and saved a similar amount. Although everything went without a hitch, we did go back to dealing directly with Dollar again for our trip in May, but only because we ended up with a Cadillac when we went down the indirect route. One of the reasons we book with Dollar rather than any other company is that the bulk of their fleet is Chrysler, which dh prefers. I'd be really interested to know what car you end up with if only to disprove dh's theory!

Now, I've never tried this myself, but if you're serious about saving money on the food shopping, I'm reliably informed that the prices at Publix in the residential communities are significantly lower than those in the tourist areas. I'm not sure whereabouts on the 192 you're staying, but I know there's one in the Poinciana area of 17/92.
