In past years I have had this happen to me. The first time it ever happened was November 2001 (DS was 10 months old and I was doing a night feeding). I had been watching airfares for weeks for a February trip. That night I couldn't get back to sleep & decided to check airfares and at 2:30am on a Wednesday morning airfare for EWR to MCO dropped $50 a ticket!!! I booked right on the spot. I thought it was a fluke, didn't give it too much thought.
Fast forward to one year later, watching airfares in October 2002 for our next February trip. I am up in the wee hours of the morning with DS who has an ear infection ~ check the airfares. At 3:30am, can't recall what day it was, the fares dropped substantially!!!!
I eventually mention these two situations to someone who fills me in that it was sort of common for carriers to drop their prices after midnight.
I have another baby in February 2004 - no Disney trip that year.
In fall of 2004 I am planning our Feb 2005 trip... no luck this time. I actually was setting my alarm to get me up some nights so I could go and check! I got a faily decent rate ($170 RT) during the daytime hours
Fall 2005 - planning for february 2006. Got a fabulous rate during the day $130 RT ~~ no getting up late for me that year!!
I am now watching for our late September trip (taking advantage of
free dining). Best I can find is $208 RT - I may set my alarm a time or two before I give in and book
