Cheap Wine

Our new addiction is St James Winery (local Missouri winery) Cranberry wine. Goes great with the season & is about $8 at our local grocery store :)

This is a good one!! Have you tried any of Adam Puchta's wines; they are also excellent?

We haven't & we go right by there all the time (we're only 1/2 an hour from Hermann & like to eat at Wingz a Blazin).

I also have "wine collectors" in my family. My son-in-law is the wine buyer for a chain of liquor stores in the area and actually travelled to California to buy a vinyard to bottle their own label wines. They have a collection of wines worth thousands of dollars. For the holidays, I serve cheap Asti in champagne flutes and let them know if they want something more elegant, they should bring a bottle.

I know you said bottle, but Black Box makes some very good wines that average about 5 dollars a bottle--19.99 for a box equivalent to 4 bottles. I really like their Malbec and Sauvignon Blanc.
I like to drink one glass of wine in the evening, so opening a bottle is not practical for me so I get the Boxed wines, I like:
Bota Box and Black Box and they last for up to 1 month after opening with out getting stale. It's really convenient and price is great.
I usually purchase bottled wine for when I have company.

Black Box is good.

I too noticed a difference in the Apothic Red. I may try the Apothic Dark my DH just saw at our packie.

Chateau St Michelle Riesling, is my favorite, they offer it in dry, semi sweet and sweet, I prefer sweet, it still isn't really that sweet say compared to a Moscato, which I think of as sweet, around 8 to 12 dollars, at the wine store its 15 bucks. I think Gallo puts out a reserve called "Café Zinfandel" which is white zinfandel and merlot mix, which I have had for parties and it covers both white and red preferring a slightly dry wine. For big parties go for the box wine, put it in carafe or some fancy container, you could also throw in some fruit in the glass, looks fancy but won't break the bank. Also to make your wine go farther, mix with ginger ale, sprite, or puree up some frozen mangos, strawberries, or peaches add it to the glasses, pour over with White or a Rosa and garnish with mint, or the same fruit. I did this for my DD Bridal shower, and it was a huge hit with all the girls.

If you are giving as a gift, but best suggestion is to find out what the person you are giving for enjoys, wine is such a personal thing.
