My 3 yo Picasso drew in ink pen on her sisters AG doll. It's on the plastic hands (and in the grooves of the fingers - arrgh) and thankfully not the soft body.

I think I remember reading that the AG cleaner stuff is just baking soda - I've got a ton of it, love cleaning with it. I think I've also used hairspray in the past to get ink pen out of clothes

What is the most economical way to clean the ink off the AG doll w/o ruining it?

I was going to say baking soda.

you might try searching the forums on www.agplaythings.com. they have several forums and i'm sure there's a fix over there. i'm sorry i don't have a quick fix for you. i hope it comes off, those dolls are expensive.

Do you think the baking soda would work on for this- my daughter had some black socks on her AG doll and when she pulled them off the legs have black stains from the socks. I haven't tried to clean it because i was unsure of what to use.

I had the same problem a few years ago with the Bitty Baby - you're best bet is Magic Eraser. Good luck!

someone just posted vodka took hair dye off skin.. maybe that would work :confused3

Please do not use anything but toothpaste! The other cleaners can leave a green mark on the doll that is extremely permanent. The mark will take years to show though. This comes from a very old and long time doll restorer. It is true because my cabbage patch kids that i bathed in baby soap all have the green chicken pox now. (20 years later) But the ones i only used toothpaste on are spot free and have a very new feel to the plastic.

10% benzoyl peroxide (like Oxy 10 acne cream). Apply it right on the mark and leave it to sit under a light or in a sunny place. Reapply until the stain is gone.

I tried going to the AG forums but apperantly they disable your login and password if you're not 'regular'. The computer kept telling me my log in was wrong and when I went to 'forgot password' it said that there was no user with my user name or email....so I had to redo it - still waiting for the admin to give ok. That's why I posted here.

Since starting the thread, I have made a paste of baking soda and let that sit on it then scrubbed away with steel wool (the kind w/o soap). That did a pretty decent job on the top of the hand, but it's a Bitty Twin so the hand is turned, wrist bent and fingers scrunched. Lots of grooves that are hard to get. So far they've lightened.

I don't have Magic Erasers, so having to buy them wouldn't be economical and they're full of harsh chemicals (that's the magic!)

Don't keep hard liquer in the house (nor the more social kind either) but thanks for the laugh (I read the other thread)

No acne cream. I use tea tree oil and dd 10 so far is spared, but now that you say that I remember reading it somewhere.

toothpaste? I have that, but of the zillions of kinds and all the additives, which one wouldn't leave residue? My old cabbage patch kids have chicken pox too. But they're red. And made with marker... ROFLOL

I don't know about the surface of the doll, but we have always used rubbing alcohol to get ink off of hard surfaces. Maybe try that on a q-tip. Just proceed with caution. :)

acne cream works! you have to reapply every day just like a real pimple. In about 3-4 days it will be gone

Glad to know the baking soda is working; I'll keep that in mind for our dolls.

I posted the vodka thing... and we don't drink either, but I thought it was funny too!!:lmao: I was imagining those little "airline" sized bottles :teeth:

I don't know if it will work for a doll, but I recently used a dry erase marker to get sharpie off a plastic lid. I just traced over the sharpie with the dry erase marker, then wiped it off with a cloth. Unbelievably, it came right off. Might be worth trying if nothing else works.
