Cheap Van Rental

We are going with my in-laws to Disney from 9/25-10/4 and cannot find a cheap van rental. Any suggestions? What is with the car rental rates right now? My in-laws are older and so the suggestion of getting two vehicles is really not an option. We have 3 kids so really needs to be a mini-van.

The cheapest I have come up with is through Dollar with the kiss2 code and it's $227/week and $44.99 for each additional day (3 days). Total with taxes $465.

Thanks for any help.

Check out Costco's website. We rented Alamo through there a couple of years ago and it was substantially cheaper. We already had a membership, however, it was cheap enough that we could have bought a membership and still come out cheaper than any other rates.

With that being said, I'm not finding any good rates for our trip in two months. We have opted to drive because the car rates were so ridiculous and we need two vans.

Recently I heard that the reason rates are so high is due to all the automotive industry issues. Not sure if this is true or why but that's what I've heard.

You might try the transportation board, they may have some better suggestions.

Good luck - I just rented a minivan for a week from Ohare, and it cost over $500 with taxes and fees!

Don't cancel your current reservation. But try Priceline every few days between now and your trip (along with looking for better deals). Don't go over (or even close) to the total price of your cancellable reservation. You can see the total price for your Priceline bid before it goes through. Start low, it definitely can't hurt to try!

Thank you for all the good ideas. If anyone else has some, keep them coming! The other thought I had was to return the car early at one of the hotels in the area and use Magic Express to get back to the airport.

To be perfectly honest, that's really not a bad price for a rental minivan for 10 days. Definitely keep looking and the priceline idea is a good one, but I'm not sure you'll do too much better than that.

Break it down, and it seems like a good deal to me: $465 for 10 days means that the van will cost you $46.50 per day....and you have 7 people in your group, so if you break it down again, thats less than $7 per day per person.
