Looking for cheap traders for upcoming trip to WDW...Have 7 kids going and need to keep costs reasonable while not losing out on fun. Any suggestions?

Try the Disney store before you go. Also I know that some of the outlet stores in Orlando and the "tourist" stores near WDW used to carry cheaper pins. I don't know if that is still true.

cheapin.com ;)
DS when they are on sale and available.
There ar deals to have on Ebay too. Just be careful.

The tourist stores around the parks don't have pins anymore. We talked to the manager at Walmart last trip down and were told that Disney pulled the license agreements. Can't blame them. I'm sure 90% of the pins sold ended up on CM lanyards.

Tried to e-mail you privately but you had this service blocked. Bought 200 pins on e-bay for around $150.

Try the restaurants its been my experience that most pin traders are cheap, they don’t tip much in order to save up and buy pins.

In order to find some cheap traders, look around see who is eating the Tofu special, has a 100 year old worn out backpack full of pin, and are not tipping very well, that’s a dead giveaway of cheap trader.

All Canadians are cheap traders, do you know the difference between a Canadian and a canoe… Canoe’s tip. :)

Stop it I’m married to one, so I have the right, so save your flame mails for later.

Unless you mean cheap pins as in to trade, in case find me on Friday at the Contemporary I’ll give you a handfull of those Dancing 2000 pins... the challenge will be to fine a lanyard that does not have one already.

This is the story if anybody is interested.

The infamous dancing 2000 pin. It seems about a year ago Disney dumped about a million of those dancing 2000 pin to the outlet stores which sold them for about 99 cents each, or if you got lucky sometimes 75 cents each if you bought like 100 of them.

We found them on a Sunday and said wow wait till the pin sharks find these.

We went to Disney, and by noon noticed every book, and every cast lanyard was covered with dancing 2000 pins. Which is one of the reasons why Disney pulled the books from the Contemporary, you see every morning a certain older couple would arrive first thing and fill every page with over 20 of the dancing 2000 pins taking good $6.50 rack pins in their place then they would run home and list the rack pins on ebay for $4.50 each making a tidy 300 % profit after expenses that is.

So Disney caught wind of this and made sure that every lanyard and book had a dancing 2000 pin on them and the it can’t be a pin we already have on our lanyards rule was enforced to the hilt.

That sweet couple then changed to the buy 5 for $3.00 Spain and Germany flex pin, and soon after that you saw a rule on those as well, Then they found that K-Mart and Wal-Mart had Disney head pins for $1.05, and they used those for a bit, now Disney pulled the rights for those pins and they are not sold there anymore.

It just takes a greedy few to ruin it for the rest of us, I used to give those $1.05 pins away to the kids in handfuls, but now they are gone.

We stopped at the Disney outlet store in St. Augustine yesterday, & they have lots of $3.99 Countdown to the Millennium pins. They also have lanyards with pins for trading. The CM asked if we would be back that evening for pin trading. They apparently do trading on Friday evenings from 6-8 p.m.

Raul,

Let me guess....this same sweet couple also held back the Grumpy pins creating the large demand so they could sell him on ebay for $50 each.....

Has anybody used mousepinsonline.com? They have really good deals, but I'm a little suspicious because I got an unsolicited pm from someone with 0 posts suggesting it. I'd like to know if it's legit.

Thanks!

I have purchased from good pins from harval@webtv.net before, and paid approximately $2.50 a pin. They are always good pins, some rack, and some broken sets. He ships promptly, and is polite. FWIW!

I have some of the 2000 pins, that my mom picked up for the nephews to trade in January. I hope that the fury has died down by then!

I just feel bad for that uninformed consumer... the one who buys the "great deal" on 50 Dancing 2000 pins on ebay ... thinking that they can trade them at Disney - not knowing that they will be everywhere!!

I have already shown this pin to my 10 yr old... and said - never never trade for this pin!

The best thing I did, was search ebay for a good lot - pins, not from a dealer, but someone who was selling off thier set. We have been able to get a good selection of 30 different pins, ones that will not be on every lanyard. Even a few we might not trade!

I think the fun and the challenge, is finding that odd lanyard without the basic "dump pins" that everyone is trying to get rid of.

Since the post on this subject was in December 2002, I think we will be safe for trading in January 2006. I was down there several times last year and did not see alot of these pins. Sure they were occassionally on some lanyards but they were not inundated with them. I also purchased some of them off ebay recently and I'm not worred about trading them.
