I've never been skiing and really don't want to. BUT my dd's 13th birthday is at the end of the month and she wants to try skiing.

I usually allow kids to pick something special they want to do on birthdays. But everything I'm looking into seems to be well over $300, when you add in rentals, tubing time, etc.

I would like a place close to NY, for beginners and tubers, with a lodge (for me). We wouldn't be sleeping over just for the day.

Any ideas?

I don't know if these ski mt are still in business.

Mt. Peter in Warwick NY.
Sterling Forest in Tuxedo NY. Both about 90 minutes away NYC.

Good beginners slopes

Tried to post this earlier but it didn't show up :confused3 Anyway, depends on where you are, but Camelback in PA is under 2 hours from NY in average traffic. They have a $99 package which includes 3 lift tickets, rentals and lessons per kid/grownup. You can pick either skiing or snowboarding. You can only do it once in your lifetime as it is their intro to skiing package, so now that my kids did it last year we have to pay regular prices this year :( but sounds like a good fit! If it is not too close I would call around and mention Camelback's program who knows, maybe someone will match it?

thank you all, I'll check into these.

Pocomom I just realized I have two post's. I didn't think my first one got through. sorry.
