Cheap rates at Alamo for SUV rental in May

I just booked a Midsize SUV for 8 days the third week in May at Alamo for $179 (including taxes! - base rate is $143/wk). This is cheaper than even their economy car rate.

After spending an hour playing with codes at National and getting the SUV rate down to $304, I figured I'd give Alamo a shot and was astounded that the Midsize SUV rate was so cheap. You can also use the Prepay feature to get it a little cheaper.

This was a Saturday-Sunday reservation for the third week in May but I just checked and the rate is coming up for the first and second weeks in May as well.

I tried the code and can't get it to work...are you booking straight through alamo.com? If so would you mind sharing which code combo. works? TIA!

No codes are needed for the cheap rates - just book at alamo.com, my dates were May 13-21, and the base rate for the period is $166.82 for the midsize SUV.
I did use the American Casino Guide corp id and coupon to bring down the price a little more, but the good rates don't require this corp id.

Mine don't get that low (darn it!) but we got 11 days for $279, base price was $214 for that many days. We're traveling from April 29th - May 9th. I think I'll keep looking for more discount codes just in case I can go even cheaper!

ETA: this is also for the mid-size SUV (Chevy Equinox)

Thanks for the tip! We're going the first week, it's costing us a bit more due to pick-up and drop off times but we did get the base rate of $143! We weren't even thinking about an SUV but the price is cheaper than anything else...

ETA- I have only used National's Emerald Aisle so we're a bit spoiled- how much different is the *********** program? We will be traveling with an infant and a toddler so I need to know what to expect in advance. Thanks again!

LOL, why was that filtered? I must be sheltered if that is a bad word... I was asking about the Quick-silver program, BTW...

Using the quick silver program, you will have to go to the counter, but members get a special line so it's shorter than the regular line. After they process the paperwork at the counter (its quick because all the info is pre-filled from your membership profile) you can still pick your car from the aisle for which you reserved (like Emerald Reserve in this sense). There is no equivalent of the Emerald Aisle at Alamo.

This is no longer true. Alamo now has a new program like National Quickrent - you fill in your info online then go right to your car without standing in line.

Unless it's changed since last October, after getting our luggage, we skipped the counter and headed right to the rental garage across the street. (not sure about the other companies, but take the elevator or escalator up one floor to get to Alamo).
After filling out the contract info. in the Alamo booth, we loaded up the car, stopped at the "gate booth" before exiting the garage, and we were on our way.
