Does anyone have a link or suggestion for where to find cheap/cute rain ponchos? I haven't seen a thread like this one. Thanks!!

I've found plain (clear, see through) rain ponchos at the Dollar Store. Can't say they're cute :lmao: but they do the job.

I found these:

Now that particular poncho isn't what I would call cheap. I do like that it comes with its on carry sack, you can pick diff colors, and it's tailored to a woman's fit. I'll probably go ahead and buy that one as I can reuse it on camping trips up here in the Pacific Northwest. You can never have enough poncho action up here when it rains and you are silly enough to go trekking in the great outdoors :)

I live in Canada, so I'm not sure I'll be that much help, but I bought our adult ones at the dollar store (bright yellow) and I found ones for the kids on sale at Walmart - DD's is Dora and DS's is Pooh. They were regularly $14 down to $7.

We bought several at Target for $1 ea.

We ended up buying each of us a WDW poncho and here is why: While our ponchos from Target did the trick of keeping us dry, they were miserable to wear. Because the plastic is so thin, they stuck to all exposed skin. They tore easily and were seamed/sealed on the sides.

The WDW ponchos are a heavier guage plastic that snap on the sides which allows air to move thru them and since they are a heavier guage they didn't stick like a second skin, at least not as bad as the Target ones. Also, the WDW ponchos came in kid size for DD who we discovered was too short to wear the Target version, this never occured to us when the ponchos were purchased at Target. Lastly, in the event that you rip, tear, break a snap etc. a WDW poncho, they will replace at no charge.

I just bought some last week at Wal-mart. They are very compact and are in a little carrying case with a handle-similar to a compact umbrella. They were $3.46 and I got a pink one and a blue one for DD and DS. They are pretty sturdy looking with a hood and a zip-up collar. They also had adult sizes which, if I recall correctly, cost just a little bit more than the kids. They also came in yellow and I think there may have been another color or two, but I'm not positive.

Try the camping/hunting section in Wal-mart. They run about $1.50 (here in NJ) and they're pretty good quality.:thumbsup2

I bought disposable type ones in the camping section of our Wal-Mart for $ .78 (or was it $.73?) either way real cheap!:thumbsup2 I used them on Kali River Rapids. We went to throw them in the garbage when we exited the ride-but there where people in the line w/o ponchos, so we gave them to these people. They were soooo happy!

I buy the cheapo ones at Target for about a buck, then trash them as soon as the rain stops. I don't want to carry a bunch of unwrapped ponchos all day. :)

I get them at Dollar Tree...there are 2 in a pack for $1.00 so I buy several packs at a time to have on hand. I also don't want to carry around wet ponchos so these are certainly cheap enough to dispose of after we don't need them any more. I like the idea of passing them along to others though...great idea! :thumbsup2

Ditto on the Dollar Store brand. I picked them up for our upcoming trip - 2 for a dollar. Got 4 packages, will use, then pass along to others at the end of the ride. I would hate to even think about trying to carry around a wet poncho all day!

Dollar Tree by us was done with them for the season when I went to buy them last fall for our December 2006 trip, but I just saw them there today--2 for a dollar, one clear, one orange, in the same packet.

So, if you see them now and aren't going until Christmas, you might want to buy them before they sell out for the season. Not a real problem, I just bought the singles at Wal-Mart (in the camping section) for about 78 cents each.

Yup, I'm going to second this...the cheap ones are...well cheaper, but there is a reason for that! They are just wretched to wear in the wet and humidity! The Disney ones are definitely cute and they aren't THAT expensive. We use ours from year to year. The ones we bought 2 years ago are still going strong!! At the end of each day just open them up, dry them off and make sure they are totally dry before folding them up again. They are really very sturdy. And you just can't beat the cuteness factor!!!:cutie:

I just bought a bunch from Academy for $.66 each. I plan on throwing them away as soon as we use them.

We have WDW ponchos but we hate to carry them all day "Just in case." They really don't pack down very small. There's usually an afternoon rain storm when we're there that passes within an hour or so, so the cheap ones work fine for that. If it were raining all day, we'd wear our Mickey ponchos. It's good to know that WDW will replace a torn poncho. One of ours has a small hole in the hood. I'll swap in on our next trip!

If it's cold and going to be raining for much of the day, I recommend buying the Mickey ones at WDW. But for warmer weather or where it's a quick afternoon storm and then it's over, I use the ones that are 2 for $1 at Dollar Tree. For children, we just tie a knot in the bottom corners to bring it up off the ground, and we're all set. We use them, and then dispose them (or pass them on at Kali River Rapids). In the warmer weather the Disney ponchos are so hot & heavy. But, the insulating factor of the Disney ponchos is great when it's cold!

Four of the ones from Dollar Tree fold up to a very small package and are extremely lightweight, so it's easy to carry them around just in case. I would not want to carry 4 of the Disney ones around because they take up much more room and are fairly heavy.

As I said, Disney ponchos are great when you're going to be wearing them all day, but not to carry around.

I just replenished my Dollar Tree supply a few days ago, and they had yellow, orange, & blue (each with a clear one to make a set of 2).

I totally agree. Disney ones for all day, disposables for quick showers. I picked up quite a few of the cheap ones at the (1) spot at Target sometime after summer last year on clearance. They were either .25 or .50 each. Great to keep a few in the car too, just in case.

Last time I used a stroller, I made my own "poncho bag" out of a larger mesh laundry bag. The one I found at Walmart was too big to use so I just reconstructed it. I attached it to the stroller with a carbinger(sp?) and it worked great. After the rain let up, I could just wad them up and put them in the bag. The mesh allowed the water to drain off. Worked like a charm!:goodvibes

As far as some of them being too big for kids, I found that when my DD was younger (first trip she was 2 3/4) even the kid's one were too large. So I did the knotting on the corners and it worked great. We still use that kid's one.

Just bought some at Target last week in the camping section - I think they were 89 cents each. Come in several colors.

We got ours at the dollar store but you can also get them at Walmart and Target. If you really want Disney ones, the Super Walmart in Kissimmee has cute ponchos with Disney characters on the back. I am not sure of the price of them but they probably are cheaper than the ones in the parks.
