Good Morning!

School starts on Monday and I'm looking for some super quick, semi-homeade breakfast ideas. I always keep cereal, toast and pop tart stuff on hand in case we're really running late or I don't feel like/have time to make something more. This is my first one going to school so I'm not sure what our mornings are going to be like right now - just trying to prepare myself! :goodvibes DS5 has several allergies (shellfish, peanuts, eggs, soy, potatoes, garlic are the main food ones) so that does limit my options as well. Generally, we do cereal, pop tarts (more as a "treat"), toast, cinnamon rolls....

I would so appreciate any hints, tips or tricks you could share!!

Due to having a morning deadline now, I would stick to cereal and maybe some fruit.

How about enlish muffins with cream cheese along with 1/2 banana or some other fruit he likes, grapes, etc.

Bagels.....don't know with the egg allergy. DD has an egg allergy but it isn't severe......she can tolerate eggs baked in items.

I always serve fruit with something else. It makes me feel like even if they don't eat something great at school, they had fruit to start their day. No matter what breakfast is, there is a "side of fruit"! I also send fruit in with their snack.

Does you child like instant oatmeal? That's a good one around here. Raisin toast, apples with peanut butter (maybe you can find an alternative to the pb), cereal, mini bagels, microwavable light sausage, frozen mini waffles...you would obviously want to check the ingredients, but the frozen waffles/pancakes are great & quick!

Also, smoothies can be a good item to add in. Especially if you are driving him to school, he could drink it in the car. There are all sorts of great recipes for smoothies online. Try a search for kid friendly smoothies.

A friend of mine made this and I "recreated" it at home. My kids LOVE it.

Didn't realize your child was allergic to eggs until I had already posted this. Sorry. Maybe someone else will like it.

Small tube of biscuits (4)
sausage(5 links) or bacon cooked & cut up
shredded cheese
6 eggs
milk (to add to eggs)

Grease a cupcake pan (12)
Divide each biscuit into 3 and press into bottom of tin.
Place a little meat in each cup.
Place a little sprinkle of cheese in each cup.
Wisk eggs & milk together. Add any seasonings that you like. Spoon into each cup until gone. Do not fill over 2/3.

Bake according to biscuit directions, maybe a minute or two longer. Let cool and freeze.

Reheat as needed in the microwave. Time depends on oven. My kids love these. I usually make at least a double recipe.

That's how DS5's allergy is - he can usually have baked stuff and be ok.

No my kids wouldn't be able to eat it but my DH would LOVE IT! Thanks for sharing!!!

What do you usually make for breakfast?

Cereal, pop tarts (if we're running late and have to eat on the go). If I have time, cinnamon rolls (refridgeratored kind), pancakes, waffles, toast. The all time favorite is triangle cinnamon toast from my Mickey cookbook like they have at Crystal Palace. I made that the first morning of school so that will probably be a tradition for us but I just don't have that time every morning.

Thank you all for the great suggestions!

I like to make my "famous" ;) Bananas Foster Waffles.

DH thinks they are SO amazing!

All you need are Homestyle/Buttermilk Eggo waffles, a ripe banana, syrup, and Cool Whip/whipped cream.

Toast waffles, cut up bananas, put cut up bananas on waffles, top with syrup, and add whipped cream.

To be even "fancier" and more filling, you can add crushed pecans/walnuts.

Voila! :thumbsup2

If I make pancakes on the weekend I make extra and freeze them. Heat them in the micro and breakfast! My ds eats instant oatmeal and a frozen waffle every morning-I have the water on before I wake him and toast the waffle while he eats the oatmeal:)

I also make big batches of waffles or pancakes on the weekend- freeze them with wax paper between to keep from sticking. Easy to heat up in the am.

I always have oatmeal on hand. My middle son LOVES this and ate it for about 5 months straight for breakfast. Now he likes 2 eggs scrambled(won't work for you though)

Grilled cheese is big in our house too! On cinnamon raisin bread! mmmm Takes only about 5 minutes for the cheese to melt and then a nice smelling hot breakfast.

I keep a carton of frozen fat free vanilla yogurt in the freezer along with several bags of frozen fruit...

Toss a couple scoops of the yogurt, some fruit, a vanilla carnation instant breakfast pack and a splash of v-8 fusion juice (flavor depends on what fruit you throw in).

Or I will do the yogurt, chocolate instant carnation drink, a splash of milk and a squirt of hershey syrup.

Mix it in the blender about a minute or two. Quick, healthy, inexpensive (since you can make several per carton of yogurt) and my kids friends think its cool that they get to drink "milkshakes" for breakfast!

We also get a big bag of frozen pancakes at Walmart (ds loves pancakes) that take 2 minutes in the microwave.

I also personally like cottage cheese, so I will go get a 5 lb tub from Sam's (only $5 wayy cheaper than the smaller tubs!) and eat that with some fruit ..There's a boat load of servings in that 5 lb tub!!

Thank you again! Made this for breakfast this morning and DH loved it! I also brought some to work and the guys loved it. It was very quick to make!
