We were going to camp then decided to just get a cheap hotel. We book the Maingate lakeside resort on a good review and they offered free breakfast. Two rooms ten days $1100. Then I read the tripadvisor reviews and it made my skin crawl ! Where can I get a decent hotel near disney for that price with a pool without paying everything up front at booking ? Is the main gate really that bad ? We are not going till June 2013 and need cheap lodging.

How many people will be travelling? What dates are you looking at? Have you considered renting a pool house or condo? Those might be your best bet for that price depending on # of people/dates. :thumbsup2

There are two adults and 7 kids. We are hoping to stay June 13th, 2013 to June 23rd 2013. I want to be able to book it now and pay it off in January once we have our house paid off. It pays off in December. Our trip is to celebrate being debt free !

With just a quick search on vrbo.com I found this 3 bedroom condo in Windsor Hills. We stayed a pool home in Windsor Hills through a different owner and it was a great community to stay, very close to Disney, and a great pool with waterslide in the neighborhood

I have never stayed here, but just wanted to show you that you can find rentals for those dates for about $1100. Many times you can negotiate with the owner to waive cleaning fees for longer stays as well. I would start there and see if you find anything. Many on here have stayed at pool homes and condos and been very pleased with the results. :) Another plus is you can cook some meals while in the condo and save significantly on your food costs, especially with 9 people.

Good luck in your search, hopefully you find something that works for you.

ETA: Congrats on being debt free, that is quite an accomplishment!

Trip advisor really is your best guide for reviewing the many, many hotels in the Orlando area.

I agree that renting a home may be your most cost effective answer. Use VRBO and search for properties in the Lake Buena Vista Area. I have used VRBO multiple times for rental properties across the country. I have never had a bad experience. The site will provide up to date pictures and most of the properties have a booking calendar so you can see what is available. In addition, prices are listed very clearly.

The nice thing about VRBO is you are booking with the owner directly. Or at least I always try to book a property that is through the owner and not an agency. Many properties include candid reviews.

Another property that is actually on Disney property, but not owned or operated by Disney, is Bonnett Creek. It is a timeshare property that gets excellent reviews and has a website where you can book directly. It even offers an AAA rate. I would not hesitate to recommend this property. They have 1 - 3 BR condos.

Bonnet Creek. On Disney property although not a Disney owned property. We have a 2 BR Deluxe condo booked for October for $837 everything included. (7 nights) You could throw one kid on an air matress or put one in bed with you and DH...depending on their age...as there is a king bed in the master. You also get 2 double beds in the second room and you have 2 baths and a full kitchen/living room/dining room...and the best thing for a large family--your own WASHER and DRYER!!!! We are a family of 6 and I love to have the W/D in the room as we generate a ton of laundry. Makes packing lighter too! Gives you the option to cook some meals to save money too...definately saves on breakfasts!

I might go back to the original plan and camp. Fort Wilderness is wonderful and if the kids are old enough to be somewhat independent, that would be the perfect place.

I would never stay in just a hotel with no kitchen with a bunch of kids. You'd need a new mortgage to feed my four in restaurants three times a day. I can't imagine what a restaurant meal would cost for the nine of you.

Congrats on paying your house off! What a great reason to celebrate! I agree with others to rent a townhouse or house offsite. Great resorts, great reviews, low prices, pool in your back yard! VRBO is a great website with alot of listings!

Congratulations!!!

I am an avid Disney property girl. However, the Wyndham at Walt Disney World (Lake Buena Vista) is right across from Downtown Disney, has shuttles to the parks, and they run awesome specials as low as $59 per room, per night. They also have character breakfasts and other things. I am staying there on the 28-30th of this month so I will let you know the cleanliness as I see it...and I am a stickler. But I am getting it for $59 per night myself.

It is clean and safe and I bet if you called them directly, or emailed, and told them that you want to pay in advance and etc, they might give you a better deal. Even better, go on Hotwire and Priceline and check out their rates there, and then call Wyndham (or any other hotel for that matter) and see if they will match it, because hotels have to pay a certain percentage above the deal to those sites, so you will be saving the hotel money in the long run...and yes, I work for hotels so I know the tricks you can use better than the average person...

Good luck!

Most home rentals only require a deposit and then the balance betwen 8-12 weeks before you arrive

My extended family and I stay in the Davenport area and usually pay less than $100 per night for a 4-5 bedroom pool house. In Dec. we have a 4bd, 4b pool house just off 192 on 27. We make rd without any problems using the toll rd or 192 to world dr. Have not tried the shortcut near Formosa Gardens that is recommended.

Try http://www.kissimmee-us192.com/map/map1/kiss192map1.htm to see an interactive map of the different communities in the Clermont and Davenport area. This really helped us when using homeaway or Vrbo.

We went with the cheap Red Roof Inn. The Trip advisor had good reviews for the remodeled rooms. Not good reviews for the old ones though. So we got two remodeled rooms , free breakfast and shuttle for $856 for 11 nights. I figure now i'm not paying to park or for breakfast. I have no urge to cook at all while we are there. I budgeted for eating out. I plan to not cook or clean for two whole weeks ! I added an extra night at that price why not ?

We just came from this house. http://www.vacationhomerentals.com/...lorida-vacation-rental-villa-proID-61533.html

we have stayed here 2 different times we love it. its a five bedroom house, it has a game room, its own pool, and I know you can rent a grill if you want(we did it was great having a grilled burgers on down days). It took me five to seven mins to get from the house to magic kingdom.

hth and if you have any question pm
