First I must confess, I never stay off property so I am lost! Here is our situation. I'm a DVC member taking a quick unplanned weekend trip. We're arriving at 11:55 at night and to save points on that night I'd like to stay for one night off property at the cheapest hotel I can find that is not gross! Just some place to sleep for a few hours as I assume we won't get there until close to 1am and we will be gone by 8 am. Can anyone recommend anything?

We stayed there in March before we checked in to OKW and although it wasn't horrid it was semi-icky and I would not stay there again....for one thing we got no rest at all from listening to the interstate noise all night.

Check in was a bit slow too with many people checking in and only one person at the desk (about 11 pm).

And the rooms were really worn and outdated in an I think I should keep my shoes on while I walk around in here way.

Also, check out the Best Western Kissimmee (irlo bronson hwy). We have stayed here before. No thrills but Very clean (last time we stayed) and a great breakfast.

We get in at 9 p.m. on saturday night, i got the Buena Vista Suites for 108.00 its 6 of us, prices start at 78.00 on the front page of the this site, dreams unlimited, includes full breakfast each person. Also we stayed at Country Inns and Suites they are 60-70 per night but very nice and clean and close by and nice cont. breakfast. One at Crossroads and another about 5 miles out. Also the airport hotel Hyatt comes up quite a bit on PriceLine for 50's. Very conveinent :)

Thanks for all the suggestions! It would be great to get the Hyatt on priceline! That would be nice at 1 am!

If you do go with the Comfort Inn LBV then ask for a room not on the interstate side - that is what we do. It's not a Disney resort but it is acceptable for a nite.

Also we have found great rates in the past on www.travelzoo.com at the Courtyard LBV on the same street (Palm Parkway) and the Fairfield Inn in the Marriott Village across I-4.

I stayed at the Comfort Inn LBV in 2002 (wow I can't believe it was that long ago!) because I found the hotel for $22/night. It was such a great deal we went down for a Wed-Sunday trip. How could I pass that up! Now I'm five years olders and a bit more spoiled! At the time though, it was clean and good enough for a couple of 21yr olds looking for a quick getaway!

If you want really cheap try the Magic Castle. There are two and the one farther away(only a few blocks) from WDW is cheaper. Nothing to write home about but we have stayed here a couple of times when we used to drive and planned on arriving late.

Are you flying in? If so, from what I have read, any of the Priceline 2.5 and 3 stars in the Airport area are just fine.

We've stayed at the Marriott at the Airport (2.5 star resort i think)

Got it once for $35 a night... (priceline)

$43 the second trip....

Great breakfest buffet and pool.....

Dreams Unlimited seems to have some good prices. but I'm not sure where you draw the line at "cheap but not gross." Sometimes it's worth an extra $20 or so just for the peace of mind.

I note that on the Dreams Unlimited site the Radisson Resort Orlando is showing rates of $69/night for certain nights, for example. Now that's not $35/night, but if you consider the depths to which a hotel can fall in terms of quality, it might be worth it.

The problem with a Priceline or other auction site is that you lose some control over your location. If you want to be close to the airport or the parks or in some direct line inbetween you may instead find yourself off your preferred path.

Good luck and have a great trip!

When we went to Disney in March 2006, I intended on spending the first night (after the long drive) in the cheapest place I could find. I thought it would be easy to find a $30 room we stayed at a Motel 6 type place about 15 or so miles outside of Disney. No such luck. We ended up staying at the Magic Castle hotel because it was the only place I could find under $50 with any occupancy. It ended up costing us just over $50 after taxes and it was the nastiest hotel I've ever stayed at in my life! Thank goodness it was only for one night!!!

When we returned to WDW in October 2006 I planned it out better. About 2.5 weeks before the trip, I went to priceline and started trying to get a 3-star room for $25. It took 3 tries, but I managed to get into the Best Western Lake Buena Vista Resort for $25. It wasn't bad at all, considering the price.

That's more of what we are looking for. This is a trip that was definitely not planned or even thought about until two days ago! We just got back in march and have two more trips planned. Addicted, I think so! We have two plans right now. If the hotel is near the aiport with a shuttle we'd maybe take the shuttle to the hotel and then in the morning take it back to pick up magical express. I have a rental car reserved, but we won't need it other than to get to and from the aiport. Our other plan is to find something cheap in the WDW area and rent the car.

When are you going and how many of you are there?
