hi.after returning from our first disney hol. in june ,we've got the bug.i'm hoping to return in oct. next year, and have been given a very good price by travelcity direct.flying with "european" airways.anybody been with them before?all views would be appreciated.thanks

poey,

We have just returned from Orlando with TCD, and EAL are their own airline.

The planes are quite old, with no seat back tellys, but other than that are perfectly OK.

As ever, you'll find mixed reviews of TCD on these boards, but I think you get what you pay for, and IMHO, TCD offer decent value for money.

If it meant we could go back, I'd go with TCD again like a shot.

We also flew with TCD on an EAL and i would recomend flying sunshine first class if you can afford the extra £250 each and have accomodation through TCD. It was fantastic. Priority boading, free champagne whilst economy loading, the biggest best seats you have seen, individual tellys, upgraded meal service ,priority luggage reclaim.and you also fly into sanford which is much easier than orlando.:bounce: :Pinkbounc

Hi
I am new to this forum and have booked a holiday for next year with TCD, flying Sunshine 1st. After reading many posts about TCD/EAL it is nice to get some positive feedback as I was begining to think I had made a mistake in booking with them. I can now begin to relax and look forward to next year now.

Thanx

Having arrived back yesterday with EAL I would agree with Craig, you get what you pay for. The seats are the same size/leg room as Virgin, but the lack of a seat back TV is a real downer for kids, who can't see the cabin screen. We'd covered that one by taking a GBA SP and a present of a Leapad book for our daughter.

We didn't pay the extra for 'allocated' seating, we just got to Manchester early (checked in 10am for 2pm flight) and hoped for the best, we got a 3 with window and 2 with a window behind, another family who had payed were split up and pretty unhappy about it.

The standard luggage limit is 20kg with a strict $10 a kilo excess at the other end for anything over, a 40kg limit (Virgin standard is 32kg I think) is available for a price, of course.

The food is pretty poor, but all the drinks are free, not a bonus for me as I'm the driver at the other end.
The staff are friendly enough but don't go the extra mile like Virgin do, it's just doesn't feel special.

We booked the Guest House(it's a lounge with good facilities) at Sanford for £10, worth twice the amount IMO.

We'll be booking Virgin next time, until our daughter is old enough for Sunshine First, now that looks excellent value. No complaints about TCD, but they just don't shine enough in economy.

Glad you had a super holiday.
I am travelling with TCD in sunshine first in the 2004
Can you tell me a little bit more about the Guest House? Did you book in advance with TCD (i have a leaflet quoting £10) or pay direct?
What did the guest house offer - free food/drinks?

Thanks in advance for any info.

We booked with TCD for £10, the price at the Guest House was $20, so TCD looks to be a good deal, unless there are any other offers out there, I couldn't find any.

The Guest House offers

1. Kids playroom with toys and TV/video. The room is glass fronted facing the bar area.
2. Bar area. Two alcoholic drinks per adult (wine or Bud). Other drinks available from bar. Soft drinks, coffee, tea? are self service and free. The snacks consist of Bombay mix type crackers and a couple of flavours of cookies.
3. 6 Playstation 2's next to Kids playroom, darkend room, no noise intruson into bar area.
4. Large screen cinema area (60inch screen?), with 5.1 surround sound, slection of DVD's to watch. Seating for about 30 people, again darkened.
5. 3 PC's with internet access.
6. A light and spacious quiet reading area with comfy looking chairs/sofas.

We were in there from 17:30 to 19:15, well worth the money, even if it was just for the playroom. It was really tranquil and the option of different areas appealed to all of us.
