Never scrap booked before (Gasp). To get started where would you suggest getting good but inexpensive supplies. I put our 2000 trip in just a photo album but still have all the extras from the trip. Going again in two weeks and want to put together a Disney album for those trips and any other we may make. Any suggestions would be soooooo appreciated.

I have 2 local Scrapbook stores and I frequently check their clearance aisles.. If I think its something I can use or would use on an upcoming book I go ahead and pick it up.. Especially when they run 75% or 90% off.. I just got some paper tonight for 4 cents a piece that were marked 90 % off..

If you have a Big Lots or a Dollar Tree in your area - both have great stickers & paper for $1.00. I picked up a cute pack of 10 sheets of Valentine themed paper from the Dollar Spot at Target the other day.

Hobby Lobby and Michael's frequently have sales and coupons. Sign up on-line for Hobby Lobby's flier and you'll get an extra coupon (frequently for 40% off one item).

If you are a costco member, they have a great set of plain cardstock and a set of patterned paper for about $12-14.

You are so smart to be thinking ahead and watching your pennies!! This can be a very expensive hobby. First I would suggest use a good album. Whether you like CM strap hinge or a post bound top loading, get a good one. I have found Pioneer to be a pretty good one if you don't put too many sheets in it...which I have done before and learned the hard way!! :headache: Surprisngly I have found scrapbooks on sale at Kohl's 40 and 50 % off. Then when you take the 15% coupon you get for using your credit card, you can get a $30 scrapbook for $12!! :cool1: And they're the same ones Mike's, JoAnne's and HL stock.

Personally I like JoAnne's. If you have a store in your area, check it out. Several times a year they'll put their cardstock on sell for 5 or 6 sheets for $1. It's not uncommon for me to go and buy $7 or $8 worth fo indidual sheets of card stock!! Also they'll put stickers on sale but I think Hobby Lobby's prices are a little better. I found some really cute Disney stickers from Sandy Lion at JoAnne's for $2.59 and then went to Hobby Lobby and found the same ones for $2.29 ...neither on sale! Just shop around alot and ask your friends. Your LSS is great for special things you can't find in regular chain stores. Once you start doing this alot and have things left over you won't use, you can get involved in a swap and send the unused stickers to your swap partner. They'll send you some different things too. It's a great idea. Wal-Mart and Target occasionally has things on sale but they're usually the bare bones minimum.

Just do alot of shopping and price comparison. I found some pretty good stickers at Dollar Tree when I was doing my Disney album. However, now I'm working on our cruise to Key West and Playa del Carmen and not finding a big selection. Oh, one last thing...check out scrapyourtrip.com and mousememories.com (I think) for very reasonable priced things you won't find everywhere. I love scrapyourtrip. I have found some WAY COOL things here that I haven't seen on any other websites or local stores.

GOOD LUCK!!

Ebay can be great for cheap supplies, just shop around before buying as some stores are really pricey too.

Are the Michael's vouchers only valid on certain dates? I'm thinking it might be worth signing up on the off chance that I got some just before we fly out to Florida. There's a Michael's near the Belz mall that I visited last year and almost had a heart attack. I'd never seen so much stuff in one place and so cheap, double the prices and add on a bit more to get UK equivalents :(

Yep, the Michael's coupons are good from Sunday to Saturday each week (sometimes, they don't have a coupon in their flier). Keep in mind that: a) it's only good on one item and b) the item cannot be on sale already (good on a regular price item only).

When I'm @ Disney(leaving this Friday), I always get the WDW scrapbook with the year on it. ($28) I pick up a sticker/paper kit cause it has the park stuff in it. I always get extra brochures, anything you can pick up in the parks for free. The mickey stickers and hotel info. My disney scrapbook from last year's trip was about 30 pages because we stay for 10 days plus Universal. But I love it!!! We take about 10 rolls of film and I think if you have time, it's great to make a scrapbook from your trip. Oh, I also learned a great tip from here, go to home depot a grab some disney paint chips in every color. Too cute!! Have fun scrapping!!!
