Hi! We are planning a trip to Universal for 5 nights in Aug and are planning to eat lightly in the parks for lunch, but would love some cheap, off-site dining options for dinner! We have a ds (13) that has a bottomless pit!:rotfl: Thanks for any ideas!

We are heading there in August, and we plan on eating at Sweet Tomatoes one night. We also plan on using a couple of gift certificates from restaurant.com for our dinners.

Looking forward to more suggestions too!

Orlando Ale House. Big Portions low prices.:thumbsup2

The location closest to DTD is called Buena Vista Alehouse on the website locations, but the sign on the building says ORLANDO Alehouse. Its across the street from the Cross Roads Shopping Center.

EDITED TO TELL YOU I'M A DORK!

Totally missed that you said you were going to Universal. There is also an Ale House right on I-Drive.

Are you looking for restaurants that are near Universal? Are you staying there or are you offsite somewhere and driving to Universal?

If it's near Universal, there are several chain restaurants in the immediate Universal area.
Carrabba's
Golden Corral
Miller's Ale House
Kobe Steak House
Cracker Barrel
IHOP
Waffle House
Hooters

And the fast foods places-
KFC
Wendy's
Burger King
McDonald's
Taco Bell

And lots more in the area along International Drive and on West Sand Lake Road just to the south.

Also if looking for bottomless pit cheap, you may like Cici's Pizza. Also think about $5 footlongs from Subway.:thumbsup2

There's an even closer one on Kirkman, right across the street from the Universal entrance.

BTW, agree with Ale House and Sweet Tomatoes as good choices.

I really love Outback Steakhouse really good prices, big portions and amazing food.

We love Bahama Breeze on I-Drive....food is wonderful and prices are reasonable!

Took advice from this thread and ate at Chevy's for dinner, and Sweet Tomatoes and Black Angus for lunch so far this week. All were great experiences!

Black Angus has an early bird special (12-5) that includes an entree (5 to choose from) a salad, a potato choice, and the house dessert (red velvet cake when we went). Great food, quiet atmosphere and excellent, fast service.

I would like to do a steakhouse when there, but when I went to the Black Angus website, they do not show one for FL. Where is this located? THX, lori

One in Lake Buena Vista on route 535 between Burger King and Denny's just before the intersection with Palm Parkway, the other on 192 in Kissimmee where those "maingate" hotels are (their website says in the Econolodge Hawaii Maingate hotel).

Thanks for all the ideas!:cheer2: Where is CiCi's located??:rotfl: Also, is there a Ponderosa close by??

Yes, there's a couple on I-Drive. The one we've been to is down by Ripley's, Pointe Orlando, and sort of across the street from the Ale House. It's right next to a Bargain World. :thumbsup2

We ate at Millers Ale House on I drive on our trip and loved it....great menu...great portions and great portions...this will for sure be on our list next time we are in Orlando. 3 adults and 1 child for under 50.00! Great Service too!:cool1:

There is a Golden Corral on the corner of I-Drive and Sand lake rd across from that nasty McDonald's with the world's largest play area. There is a Sweet Tomatoes on the corner on Universal blvd (?) and I-Drive. It may not be Universal blvd but if you head towards the Sheraton Four Points (the big round hotel) and make a left so you are heading towards the outlet malls you will see it on the left side. Real close to Universal.

We like Giordano's. There prices are decent & their stuffed pizza really fills us up.
