I just came back from Marshall's hoping to find something decent to wear for formal night on my cruise. It turns out they have a ton of special occasion dresses on clearance and for $80 I got THREE outfits, one for formal, one for semi-formal and one for palo. I normally would not have bought 3 new outfits but for $30 for a Jones, NY dress, I couldn't resist!

Just thought that anyone going on a cruise anytime soon might be interested!

JC Penny's is have a similar sale. I just got back and bought a BEAUTIFUL black lace, full length dress for $35 and a special occation black dress (plain so I can accessorize) for $15. If you spend $50, there is a coupon in the store for $10 off your purchase. I got both dresses for $40! The full length dress was regularly $80 and the plain black dress was regularly $65. I thought I was going to wait until after the holiday's to get my formal dress, but when I saw the clearance racks I couldn't help but browse. I'm glad I did! ;) Glad you found a similar deal, too! Doesn't if feel great?

Here in Seattle my wife got an $800 Oleg Cassini Black Tie formal dress with matching jacket for $45 at Nordstrom's Rack.

wow......$30 for jones of ny and $45 for oleg cassini...
forget the cruise, i'm going to fly on over just to shop for clothes...
as for formal dressing on the ship....fortunately i wasn't on the Magic so didn't have to worry about it.....the Wonder is a casual sort of place...
i have to dress formally for work here.....that is, as part of my husband's work i am forced very much against my will to attend various state functions and ambassadorial affairs......so any sort of formal wear screams unpleasantness to me (being in a closed room with 500 arrogant, pompous asses is not my idea of a pleasant eveing, and i get out of as many of them as i possibly can)......even just my dressy cocktail suits put me in a foul mood.....when i go to dressy family/friends occasions i tend to avoid formal clothing in order to differentiate in my mind those people i love being with from those i would rather be anywhere but with......
still....$45 for an oleg cassini......hmmm......

I can vouch for the great deals at Penney's. Last year I bought two really nice dresses for the formal nights (one pink and one flowered) for $35 each. It must have been a popular sale, as I saw many similar (and one of the same) dresses when we were on board.

Oh no, Does this mean on formal night I will be looking at a table full of people wearing the same dress that I am wearing?!?! Something else to worry about now that the worry of having something to wear is gone!
