Cheap Eats and Tips

Taking a last minute budget friendly trip with my family, we have three boys, ages 8,10 and 11. I'm looking for suggestions for best value for dining off site (onsite suggestions welcome too). We will have a car and aren't terribly familiar with even chain restaurant offerings in the U.S. as we are Canadian so no suggestion is too obvious.

We love Steak and Shake. Great burgers and fries (and amazing shakes). Most are under $5.00. If you pull out of Downtown Disney (sorry, can't remember the road name), where McDonald's is in front of you take a left, there will be a Steak and Shake about 3/4 mile down the road on the right.

We are Canadians too, and love some of the American chains!

As the PP indicated, Steak & Shake is awesome (and cheap). Their milkshakes are divine.

Cici's Pizza is ridiculously cheap. Our teenager LOVES it. Adults will not be nearly so enthralled. But for cheap, unlimited pizza/pasta/soup/salad/dessert, the price ($6-ish pp, with easily available BOGO offers) can't be beat.

Chili's and Millers Ale House are both excellent options: great food and very, very affordable.

Bubbalou's Bodacious Barbecue is another affordable and awesome choice.

Sweet Tomatoes would be another one to check out. Heathly and yummy!

Twistee Treat for ice cream too....so, so good!

Two more that I just thought of......Golden Corral (buffet) and Friendly's.

We love to do the ponderosa breakfast buffet. My parents always brought us and now we still go on our own. It's cheap and we are full!! Then lunch becomes less of a "meal" and more of a snack due to still being stuffed from breakfast.

Perkins or steak n' shake- a seat down restaurant for the price of MacDonalds - or close - just be carefully of the extras - but that applies to all - except Golden Corral (and I think Ponderosa) they are one price - buffett

Sweet Tomatoes would be at the top of my list. If you sign up at their facebook page or website, you can usually get coupons too.

I will never eat Steak & Shake again after eating at Freddy's Steakburgers. New down there. It's an outparcel in the Publix Shopping Center across from Premium Outlets. In May we ended up there three times. Great burgers, great prices and shakes & ice cream too! I have a trip offsite in October. Every time I look at Disney restaurants to book a dinner, all I think about is how much I'll save to just go to Freddy's. (8107 Vineland Ave Orlando, FL 32821)

Gang usually convinces me to do Cici's at least once. Doesn't come much cheaper and I can handle once a trip.

We have Freddy's slated in for our October trip based on your glowing recommendation . I can't wait to give it a try!

If you are wanting something on property, then I would highly recommend Earl of Sandwich. About 2 weeks before you leave, sign up for their email program. They will send you a BOGO coupon.

Celebration Town Tavern in Celebration. There are actually quite a few options in Celebration that will be lower priced then Disney while not quite down at Golden Corral level (in both price and quality).

Help! I was looking at a menu on line from some place that was recommended on a trip report, now I can't remember the trip report or the place
It had a huge variety of hamburgers on the menu and wedge salad. Any ideas would be welcomed

It wasn't millers ale or friendlies

For dinner it listed small salads and large salads

If you are willing to drive for 20 miles ( 30 min )

Then might I suggest " Manny's Chophouse " in Haines City ........ Kids eat free on Mondays ( Not sure of age )

2 for 1 drinks till 7pm
