I can't remember what is near Animal Kingdom. We have a resv for Donald's @ 8:20 am on Friday, Dec. 7--we are going to arrive late Thursday night and I was looking for a cheap hotel near AK. We are staying at Contemporary the rest of the trip and I don't see adding another night there when we are arriving late. Thanks for the help!!

You can take the shortcut to AK on Sarabeth Road. At the corner of Sarabeth and I-192 is a Super 8 hotel, which used to be a Best Inn. I stayed there and it was OK, but other people had bad stays there. A little further down is the Four Points Sheraton Lakeside. I've stayed there several times and it was nice. You can get a discount on it on the hotel discounts page on this board.

The Renaissance World gate is close too. The front desk gave us the directions for the back way to AK. It just took us a few minutes and there was no traffic.

Dec 7 2002 is our departure date! So I happen to remember that it's a Saturday; I hope your PS is not affected.

new discount at select AllStars @ 55.00 per night

Hello All- Disney's new ad in todays Travel section is for select AllStars @ rate of 55.00 per night for stays 11/03/02-11/25/02 and 11/30/02-12/25/02. must be booked by 10/28/02. code is BBK, and is for anyone.

The All Stars are very near AK and I don't know if you can get abetter rate off site, this is for Music and Sports only.

Just to clarify, it's Sherberth Rd. that forms the shortcut to AKL, AK and hence Disney property.

Depending upon how far west you are on 192, you can also take Black Lake Rd to a left on Sherberth which, again, brings you out to the intersection which forms the approach to AKL.

Summer's Bay is a relatively new motel (not the villas). Also, there is a HoJo's in that same section of 192 that is adequate.

I'd be very, very cautious about the former Best Inn. It was horrid not too long ago. (A year or so). I left there and said that I'd not stay there again for free. I meant it!

I second the recommendation that you stay away from the Best Inn (although I vaguely recall that it's not even a Best Inn anymore and has been renamed). We left there after a few nights even though we'd paid for 7 thru Priceline because it as TERRIBLE. The Renaissance is adequate and very near AK. If you're open to trying Priceline, I got it thru for $30/nt. Check TravelSheryl's board, www.biddingfortravel.com for info.

We also stayed at the Renaissance World Gate thru Priceline for $35 a night. We stayed 6 nights and the room was very, very nice. We had 2 double beds and the room was large with a TV, desk and chair, fridge and free safe. The directions for the back way to the Disney parks is on the back of the sheet the front desk gives you to show you where your room is. If you lose that, they have copies of the directions for the asking. The staff is extremely pleasant and we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

Is that the one they did over as a Sleep Inn? If so it was done within the last year. I had a friend that stayed there since & it was fine. The Worldgate is a great deal if you get it through Priceline for $30-35 but I wouldn't pay much more for it. it is however clean. There is also Silver Lake.
