Cheap but safe

My teenager wants to see the Pitbull concert this weekend. We just came home from vacation and have another one planned in March so this needs to be cheap. Problem is every cheap place I find has awful reviews. I have never used Priceline or anything like that. I tried naming my price today, but I couldn't get anything accepted. I think I was to low. Any tips, hints, hotels, good wishes, etc are appreciated. I don't want to save a few dollars and end up miserable in an unsafe location.
