So help me out ladies (and gents)!! I need good but not to expensive furniture for my two girls room when we move there. We are actually moving to Mifflinburg but State College is the town people usually recognize.

Any Rooms to GO? Anything that sells quality furniture for the budget minded folks?
TIA, APRIL

Howdy,

I live here in State College, and you are not going to find anything cheap. There is Wolf's furniture, but I have found them to be expensive and even though they have a lot of furniture, it is of a similar style.

The Pittsburgh Ikea is the one that delivers to State College. We buy most of our furniture from Ikea and find that it is easier to get a van or truck and drive to the Ikea in Philly off of 95 rather than get delivery. I think when we checked into delivery it was about $150 and could take up to 4 weeks.

The other thing you could try is there is a Free cycle group in State College. If you are not too picky and you are quick on the email, you can get some nice things.

If you have any questions about the area, let me know!

Actually Mifflinburg is kinda far from SC...... (My Dh's family runs a flower shop on the main street there in Mifflinburg.)

You'll want to go to Lewisburg...maybe to Silver Moon Furniture.. Rt 15 above Lewisburg. Or short trip up to South Williamsport to Beiters (We got a bunch of furniture from them when we lived there...)

There's a furniture place in Selinsgrove too (south on rt 15 across from Susquehanna Mall)

However, as you've guessed by now that you have not moved to the shopping mecca of PA. After 8 yrs of living in Central PA we got bored and moved to MD.

You got bored?!?! I'm stunned. :rotfl:
It seems odd in a town with a huge college student population we wouldn't have an Ikea, a Disney Store, or even an Old Navy. We have to drive hours to get to Ikea, and it's a 45 minute drive to get to Old Navy or Disney Store. The other town 45 minutes away just got a Kohls. I guess State College isn't the place to put a business. :confused3

I remember SC when it didn't even have a WM..... (kmart and Hills were it my freshman yr at PSU)

We lived in Williamsport after i graduated from college. A fun weekend was spent driving over to Wilkes-Barre Mall or down to Lancaster or Harrisburg because well shopping in n. central PA just bites.... :teeth:

SC does have a Wegmans now.... I'm jealous.... We may get one down here in a few years... They are in talks with a developer in the area.....

COME ON DOWN.....

Oh wait there is a furniture place in Mifflinburg itself. (in the strip mall across from the Sheetz).. Kliney's i think....

We went there once... not that cheap though.....

The basement at the Roller Mills (antiques place) in Lewisburg used to have used furniture too....

We got our cherry buffet hutch there for only $150.... It's solid wood and has traveled well....

I love Wegmans. It's my favorite grocery place.
I sure remember when they only had a KMart and Hills. They only had a handful of grocery stores, too.
Now the KMart is gone as is Hills. Lowes moved into the KMart location. They tore down the building. There's a Sheetz across the street from Lowes now.

Altoona has a lot more choices for shopping. They have a bunch of new stores going in there.
We have a few stores in the mall, two Wal Marts, a Target, some grocery stores and a couple of movie theatres.

It's still a nice place to live. I liked living in CA better, but DH's job was here, so here we stay.

The Kmart center was north of business 355. (had an old weis store there too) Near Carnegie Dr.

Lowes is across the street from Outback. On Valley Vista Drive....

I live in State College PA. We got a loft for our son at the Room Docotor. They had other bedroom furniture there and it seems to be a good price. The loft is good quality. The room dr. is right on College ave close to Damons.

A new furniture place opened in the Hills Plaza right beside Firestone (acrossed from McDonalds) I havent compared prices but they looked good.

And there is also Caparella Furniature in bellefonte.

Good Luck!

KMart and Weis were on Valley Vista Drive, but it was torn down.
Lowes used to be across from Outback, but they built a new Lowes where KMart and Weis were. I'm not sure what will go in where the old Lowes was.

I heard we might get a Home Depot right across the street (on the 322 side) from the new Lowes, but not yet. They are about ready to open a new Home Depot in Altoona though in that big old shopping center they created.

We need a new shopping center here.

Try Overstock.com they have some great furniture buys... and lots of times they have shipping for $3 - yes $3... A friend of mine has bought many nice peices thru them.
