If you're looking for books to buy as gifts, you can try Borders if you have one nearby. They have a card you can sign up for and they often send out coupons for 20 or 30% off a book.

Otherwise, why not just take her to the library and borrow the book for free?

If you order online, you'll need to pay shipping or spend $25 or so depending on the site.

Yes! Try this....it is great if you are looking for bestsellers and popular books. It's a little more hit or miss for lesser known books.

I use bookpricesearch dot com I do pretty well there. Half dot come do you have a half price books near you???
Craigslist has been pretty successful

If it is for textbooks go to chegg dot com you can rent or buy

It would help if you could let us know what type of books you're looking for.

If it is children's books, your local Goodwill/Salvation Army etc will be the recipient of parents cleaning out the bookshelves as children grow out of their books.

EBAY sellers tend to have big Lots of books.

If it is current adult fiction type --- paperbackswap is the best. You'll basically be getting your books for the price of shipping. If you have no books to trade right now, you can always purchase a few credits to get started.

But as far as cheap, nobody beats your local library. If they don't have what you want see if they can get it for you through a library exchange program.
