Cheap bed idea for Grandmas house?

My mom just got her own house and wants my DDs to spend more nights there. Problem is that they are sleeping in their playroom so space is limited and they spend the night together. The room has hardwood floors so a sleeping bag on the floor does not work. Last time my mom used her air mattress for them but the cat 'kneaded' it while the girls were sleeping so the mattress now has holes. Any ideas for a removable type bed? The girls are only 6 and 4 so not terribly picky yet.

Have you checked IKEA? Frequently has smaller scale furniture for the small Euro apartments. Fairly basic and very reasonably priced.

I agree that camping cots would be perfect! I've never slept on one so I don't know how comfortable they are but they sound like the best option. Or, maybe even an egg-crate style foam topper that gives just enough padding to continue sleeping on the floor with their sleeping bags. I'm not sure if that would provide enough comfort for them but the thicker foam toppers (the 2"-3" ones) would be really bulky to try to roll up and store when not in use which is why I suggested the thinner egg-crate one.

We recently had two little girls stay with us from Japan on a school exchange program. They were 12 and 10. We purchased two Shikibuton from an Amazon seller, and they were great. There are kiddie chairs or "sofas" that fold out into a bed in the toy department at Walmart. When they aren't sleeping on them, they can use them for seating in the play room.

Is there room for a daybed/trundle bed? Not sure how expensive but would be good to have as it will grow with them.

We just have two twin airbed mattresses -- very quick electric blow up, very fast dismantle and folding. Brand we have is Aerobed, and they've held up for about 8 years now.

I would do this or a futon. Something that can be converted from a bed to a seat.

I would do a trundle daybed. It can make a great space to play on/read on, and room for 2 to sleep once you pull out the trundle. Just get a very basic one that doesn't take up much room. Leave sheets/blankets on it so it is always ready to go.

What works good with "sleeping bags on the floor" is carpet padding the kind they use underneath wall to wall carpets. If you go to your local carpet store they may sell you a small piece for a few bucks, and if you get lucky they may even give you the piece free.

At that age my kids got a lot of use out of their old crib mattresses for sleepovers. They each had their own room but would have sleepovers in each other's room - on the crib mattresses.

We use this for sleepovers all the time. We have also brought this with us to hotel rooms. It fits in between the two double beds and folds up for the next day. I think my in-laws paid about $45 on sale for these and bought two.

When we visit my grandmother my kids sleep on the same trifold shibukiton type things posted earlier. They have had them at Costco. They are perfect for this type of visit/sleep over
