My twin boys are turning 15 years at the end of the month. Help! Anyone have ideas for a teen boys party that isn't too expensive? They want to invite 6 boys which means too many to spend the night. We just don't have that much room.

If there's a place to crash (floor, sofa, tub, etc...LOL), they can sleepover. Any weekend we can have any number of teen boys sleeping in all sorts of places/positions.

From my DS14 -- pizza, soda, chips and your game system of choice. Oh, and cake. In the past, they've enjoyed making their own personal pizzas (Boboli crust) and ice cream sundaes. Simple, and mom & dad out of the way.

If you have a rec center with a pool, you could pay for them to go swimming for a couple of hours?

I don't know how expensive it is, but what about lazer tag or paintball. I think teen boys are big on paintball if I listen to my nephews. :)

How about camping out in the backyard? They could have hot dogs, roast marshmallows, etc.

Do any of them skateboard? We just did this for my DS and they LOVED it. Skate parks are free. Then we came back to the house and grilled, made 'Smores, and they skated some more. :thumbsup2

I was going to suggest the same thing.

My DS-10 had a laser tag party. We only paid for the games there ( no party room Etc). We had the boys come back to our house for pizza and video games. They had a great time.

we did a neighborhood search, gave each team a list of things to find, and a camera, things like a house with the number 32, a yellow dog,a flag, a birdhouse on a pole. If you live in a safe neighborhood. Good luck

we did a baseball game w/some of my son's friends, along w/taking the basketball team to a college basketball game - it's a smaller venue and sometimes you get good group sales -

Thank you! Those are some great ideas that I will toss around with the boys.

(We looked for laser tag but Q-Zar closed and the Scandia in town doesn't have one) :sad1:

Do you have a local bowling alley? Some of them have coupons for $0.99 games. That wouldn't be too bad or see what 2 hrs of bowling would be.

Good luck with whatever you plan!

Just saying that if you tell them to bring a sleeping bag and pillow, they will sleep anywhere. Get a couple new video game rentals, some pizza, a good PG13 movie and a deck of cards-voila! teen boy birthday party. Did I mention soda?

My teenage son had his birthday party at a nearby drive-in. We got there early, had a picnic dinner, and then they all sat in lawn chairs and watched the movie. I popped a bunch of popcorn and brought a cooler of sodas so we didn't have to visit the concession stand.

Laser tag would have made my 15 year old very happy!

Pizza, snacks, cake/brownies, giant party balloons filled with water (OrientalTrading.com), video game rentals, a movie, ear plugs for the parents, etc.

Wow, we don't have any drive ins anywhere around here at all. I didn't know they were still around. That would be neat.
:)

I don't know why this is so hard for me every year. When they were little I came up with all kinds of theme parties and always had them at the house. Also, the timing of their birthday is bad- right at back to school. At least I only have to do it once a year! :rotfl:

How about having a sports party at a local park *free*. Bring sports equipment, soccer balls, basketballs, etc. Use the park facilities. Have Pizza delivered to the park and bring a cake for good eats and let them hang out. We did this for DD 13th birthday but I also did a scavenger hunt activity for the younger kids.

I assumed that by the time my kids are 15, we are done with parties! :rotfl2: Dd12 just invited 5 friends to a habatchi restaurant, and then they went swimming at grandma's. I took ds10 and his friends to the movies this year. Maybe take them to the driving range or batting cages? Otherwise, have some buddies come over for pizza and a movie - I don't think they need organized activities at this age.

I had thought it would be easier by now too without having to plan big themes, but it seems harder to come up with some loosely organized activity to keep them busy. We have a Wii, but even with that only so many can play at a time. Movies would be easy but the kids have all different levels of parental permission regarding movies, so that makes it a little hard to pick one.

For my sons b'day dh is taking him and 4 friends to a minor league baseball game. Here it is the PAWSOX...the training team for the Boston Red Sox of which we are huge fans.

Tickets are less than a movie and he is an avid sports fan.

Maybe something like this near you?

Can you take them all to the movies & out to eat? Like maybe The Dark Knight or another guy movie, then to a pizza buffet? If you go to a matinee it would be cheaper.

I think boys that age could do a sleepover and crash anywhere- just supply soda, food, movies, & video games. Keeps my dh & ds entertained for hours :). I live in a small 2br apt. & last year had 7 (yes 7!) little girls have a sleepover in the living room for dd's 7th bday party. This year I wasn't as insane & did a pool party instead :).

For the last day of school we took our 14 year olds to the local park. At that age they still really love to play. We brought along the bean bag toss, ate McDonald's, played basketball, and the boys even played on the swing set and ran through the little kids water park area. Really they just liked being together and hanging out. The moms sat in the shade and talked. It was such a pleasant afternoon.

Swimming is another fantastic activity. We didn't rent a pool or anything. We just took our older son, then also 14 to the local pool. The boys had a blast splashing around and playing together. We did the same thing with simple sandwiches and came back to the house for cake and ice cream.
